Friends:

It has come to our attention that the American Bar Association is currently considering amending Rule 8.4 of the Model Rules of Professional Conduct in a way that will threaten the ability of conscientious Christian attorneys to participate in the legal profession. If you are unfamiliar with this issue, you may view my webinar –The Coming Collision Between Attorney Conscience & Anti-Discrimination Provisions (04/17/2014) – on the ADF Allied Attorney website.

In response to the ABA’s actions, we are preparing a Comment on the proposed amendments, which we intend to file with the ABA Standing Committee On Ethics And Professional Responsibility – the ABA Committee considering the proposed changes. In anticipation of that filing, we are in the process of identifying those ADF Allied Attorneys who are currently members of the ABA. Identifying yourselves as ABA members will not constitute a commitment to join in on the Comment. We will only use your ABA membership status for the purpose of providing you with a copy of the Comment for review prior to its filing. If, after reviewing the Comment, you feel moved to join in on it, we will extend to you that opportunity.

Therefore, if you would be kind enough to let us know if you are a current ABA member, we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Brad

I'm a retired lawyer who has not belonged to the ABA since they came out as pro-abortion. But if there are any freeper lawyers, this may be of interest.

Never joined the ABA. When they call I say it’s because they are against gun ownership (among other things).

Haven’t looked at this yet but a couple of years ago the ABA was looking at a rule that banned judges from belonging to any group that discriminated on the basis of sexual preference, etc. Apparently it was bottled up on the grounds to it would bar Christians (and others) from serving as judges, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes back at some point

This is totally useless without the text of the proposed rule. If they aren’t willing to spell out the issues unless you sign up for their seminar, I’ll ignore them for now.

the aba is pro-abortion, pro-gay agenda, and pro-gun grab. yet the aba claims to be objective in examing judicial nominees.
