Do you deny that Utley is on his back in that frame because he got hit in the face earlier by Tejada’s knee?

This image shows where the initial contact took place and it is about two to three feet to the left of second base

He never touched it

Look for yourself

You can also see the bag deflect in when Tejada sweeps it, view from the top looking second to first.

Come on. Try to be forthright on this. That still frame is well past the point where the initial contact took place. At that point they are barely even in contact with each other anymore.

Forthright? LOL. I don't like the Mets.

As I said if you look at the dirt, you can see that this frame is not "well past" the point were the "slide" began. It's pretty close.

The second frame that you posted even shows that.

I've posted the images that shows where they were when they came into contact. And you've won't acknowledge that the initial contact was Utley getting dropped on his back after his face hit Tejada's knee. The latest image you showed is after that had already happened. And at that point, Utley is on his back with his head having bounced off the ground.

You’re not following the thread. Utley didn’t touch the base because, as he was about to, his face hit Tejada’s knee and he got dropped on his back. Watch the video again, it is clear what happened.

The first contact was Utley's elevated ankle hitting Tejada's ankle, as he is passing by the bag. This video is pretty good.

Stop/start the first few seconds to see it.

I have it on replay in 1080p resolution
When Tejada sweeps the bag,you can see it deflect down, and that’s at normal speed, not slow motion.
This is the view from the third base camera up high looking second to first.

Did Tejada’s knee hit Utley’s face and cause Utley to drop on his back?

Yes, a split second after the initial contact.

You're not watching the same video I'm watching. The first contact was Tejada's left leg going up Utley's chest and then striking Utley in the face. After Tejada's knee hits Utley's face, Utley then slams into Tejada's right leg (which is the one that was broken) with his crotch and Tejada's left foot then gets swept out from underneath him. The proof on this sequence is that Utley's helmet gets knocked off well before he hits Tejada's right leg which is the leg furthest from Utley.

Meant to say Tejada’s right leg gets swept out from underneath him - not the left leg.

In this replay you can see footprint on the bag.

My comment was censored. Apparently it is verboten to criticize the Mets.

I agree with you as that is how I was taught to play the game in the 60’s. But how can we expect these guys to know that as I’m embarrassed by the complete lack of fundamentals that is taught including proper slide techniques, how to properly run the bases, how to set yourself for a throw after catching a fly ball, how to hit a cut off man, how to bunt down the first base line after getting hit by a pitch in a previous at bat, how to line yourself up with the runner coming in to second so he has to dive to get out of the way of your throw....etc

Utley did his job, broke up the double play. That’s baseball. Bad breaks happen.
