There have been many estimates for when the earth's inner core was formed, but scientists from the University of Liverpool have used new data which indicates that the Earth's inner core was formed 1 -- 1.5 billion years ago as it "froze" from the surrounding molten iron outer core.

In a new study published in Nature, researchers from the University's School of Environmental Sciences analysed magnetic records from ancient igneous rocks and found that there was a sharp increase in the strength of the Earth's magnetic field between 1 and 1.5 billion years ago.
This increased magnetic field is a likely indication of the first occurrence of solid iron at Earth's centre and the point in Earth's history at which the solid inner core first started to "freeze" out from the cooling molten outer core.

No, a solid core formed from a molten core.
Even if we’ve got a billion years left, we’ve still got the problem of the earth’s magnetic field flipping, although I haven’t heard as much about that on Coast-to-Coast lately.
But that could be because I don’t listen as much. George Noory is no Art Bell.
As usual, it's a theory that will be changed by some other study. I've so grown to distrust scientific studies that are often found incorrect.
Here's some examples from some of the greatest minds:
The world is flat;
The Sun revolves around the Earth;
Disease is spread by Satanic forces;
Aids will kill everyone;
Apple pesticides with Alacar were going to kill us;
Ozone hole over the antartica was the end of humankind;
World Population Bomb was going to kill humanity;
The next Ice Age portends the end of humanity;
Higher levels of cholesterol cause heart failure. Now it's saturate fats. No, now it's tri-glycerides;
Drinking a glass of wine a day is good for the heart, but drinking a glass of spirits is not. NOW, drinking any alcohol dilutes the thickness of blood which can cause blood clots;
Jogging is good for the heart. Oops, low impact exercise is now better:
Mars has no liquid water. Uh, now those experts claim Mars has liquid water.
Physicist claim the universe just poofed into existence from the "singularity". They have no idea how the singularity came to be.
Human caused global warming will flood low-lying areas because of melting glaciers and increase the overall temperatures of the planet along with increased hurricanes and such;
Human caused global warming will cause our next Ice Age;
My best example how wrong science can be is the 70's claim there is NO difference between male and female children. They claimed it was all NURTURE vs nature. It was on the cover of Time magazine. Recently, they discover there is a difference in the brain between males and females. Hell, anyone who raised a boy and girl saw the difference when toddlers - too young to influence. Even before this recent study, I saw an experiment back in the late 80's that had the Moms on one side of a short fence (think pingpong net on the ground) and the toddler boys and girls separately responding. The girls would cry when they reach the short fence because they couldn't get to Mom. Most of the boys would try to climb over it to get to Mom.
So now, the ever knowing Phd's tell us that there IS a difference between male and female. Thanks guys for your brilliant studies. I know I'm forgetting quite a few. Feel free to add to the above list where "scientists" were wrong.
Ya, except for those brief periods when the magnetic poles flip.

If you disagree, you’re free to write Nature a letter setting out your reasoning. But it had better be based on scientific reasoning.
Have you never flown in an airplane? And do you use electricity to light your home? God forbid that you ever need a C-Scan, or must undergo a surgical procedure. These all come from the scientific method you so casually dismiss.

What if Earth's Magnetic Poles Flip?
It says the atmosphere would still provide protection from most of the sun's radiation, at the earth's surface, but our satellites could get knocked out.
It also cites a theory that the Neanderthals were wiped out by a magnetic field weakening (that didn't get all the way to a flip).
This is all fine and dandy when scientists erroneously assume time is constant. As they always do.

Yes but the way he said it, he meant that is ALL they give off. I forget the context, but it was something like “animals, humans, cars, and plants expel nothing but CO2” oh yes and then he said into “this very thin layer of atmosphere”. Yes, “very thin” which just so happens to be a very thin 5000 trillion metric tons, a very thin 60 miles high, 80 if you count the very last extent. Thin my ass. Imagine a 60 mile deep ocean completely engulfing every square inch of earth. We can no more affect the composition of that than we can piss in the sea and turn it yellow.
Hillary was wearing those gawd awful capris at the time, too.
