U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, issued a statement on the shooting Friday morning.

“My thoughts and prayers are with families of the person who was killed and the three others who were wounded in the horrific shooting on the campus of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff early this morning,” he said. “I appreciate the efforts of all state and local law enforcement officials, first-responders and school administrators, and continue to pray for the recovery of the injured, as well as all those in the NAU community who have been impacted by this terrible tragedy.”

The shooting comes the same day President Barack Obama is set to visit Roseburg, Oregon, and the families of those slain in the October 1 massacre at Umpqua Community College.

I think you hit on the real culprit here. Many in colleges today simply should not be there to begin with. They are holing up there living on loans hoping their lot in life will change without understanding they are in their remedial studies or token college degree programs because they are ill prepared for academics and or entry into a meaningful career.

The education industry is complicit in this charade because more students equal higher paychecks or even employment.

Too many kids going for the party life and too few for the education. Look at some of the majors they have in liberal arts. Black studies, feminist studies, LGBT studies. . . And we have to import engineers.

Yup. Quicken founder Dan Gilbert has complained that far too many applicants might have the degree but don't have the knowledge because colleges are socializing students like kindergartners instead of teaching them the skills needed to become productive adults.

Is a pre-dawn shooting different from a post-dawn or late night shooting??

If we currently had dem majorities, we’d likely see UBC’s and possibly followed by registration.

The Delta Chi fraternity was involved.

Delta Chis are no strangers to the police on the Flagstaff campus. Apparently, there's been lots of drug dealing and associated violence at their chapter house.

It’s an old, sad story. Decades ago, when I was a freshman at UMass, our dorm floor had two SPED kids. UMass, you see, has always been on the leading edge of the movement to send every kid, no matter how unprepared, to college. One kid, nicknamed “Sperm,” was a little psychopath who threw live cats and furniture off the 19th floor balcony for fun. Another, “Babes,” was simply the owner of a 75 IQ. He looked out the window one day at the rain and announced, “Hey! It’s participating!” Both were gone by the end of their first semester, paid for largely by MA taxpayers.

From what I have been able to garner, they are not allowed to carry weapons around on campus, however, they can have them in their vehicles.

I had to look around for it, but this was the source of the reported gun policy on the campus.

They are recruiting from groups of people that would never have gone to college before. It’s all bout getting that money; Recruiting that gangbanger who can’t read but can hit 3-pointers, recruiting that troubled youth who has no interest in an education but can draw in $40k in student loans to give to the school, recruiting that poor immigrant who doesn’t even speak the language so they can meet the government’s new diversity standards and keep getting those government grants to study the effect of handouts in an already lazy populace.

“My thoughts and prayers are with families of the person who was killed and the three others who were wounded in the horrific shooting on the campus of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff early this morning,” he [U.S. Sen. John McCain] said.

Does that mean that McCain already knows that this wasn't a case of, say, self-defense - or maybe a drug deal gone wrong - or any of a half-dozen other scenarios which shouldn't be described as "horrific"?

Regards,
