The California Coastal Commission has banned SeaWorld from breeding captive killer whales in San Diego. The ban is one of the conditions SeaWorld must uphold as it doubles the size of the tanks used to hold the animals at the park. Animal rights activists praised Thursday's decision, which will see 11 orcas remain at the tourist attraction.

Might as well close the park in San Diego. One would think the land is now much more valuable for development than a park whose main attraction will disappear.

Once performing animals are banned, zoos will be the next target. Then pets.

On a moral level, I am opposed to the incarceration of animals for the entertainment of humans.

It is immoral.

I agree. Unless you add the element of long, painful torture, it's no fun to watch the animals.

BURN, ZEBRA, BURN DAMN YOU!

I agree with you. The best exhibit I ever saw when I was a young girl was made up of panoramas of the wildlife of our area. Mounted critters....just beautiful.

Sure less expensive than a disgusting, stinky, zoo.

I think we pay a million dollars a year to China for the pandas at the Washington zoo....and China gets the pups, too.

What if the animals breed on their own? Do they have giant chastity belts? Do they keep the poor animals isolated?

Do they have to perform an abortion?
