Gartner has released its latest guesstimate of computer sales for both worldwide and US quarterly sales. Apple gains in both sales and market share percentage as Windows PCs shrink overall. Lenovo shows strong growth in the US while showing a -4% drop in market share worldwide. That may represent the weakness in the China economy. Apple shows moderate US growth, but respectable 1.5% world growth, especially compared to all the losses of the PC makers except the 0.5% worldwide growth of Dell, despite only a 3.2% US growth factor. Keep in mind, these are ONLY guesstimates, especially where Apple is concerned as Gartner has no inside knowledge of Apple's Retail or Online store sales. — PING!

Well, I appreciate the ping, but unless you crave a bunch of riled-up (see "Surface Book") Windows fans coming here to trash Apple and mock your Apple-positive statistics from MacDailyNews, I think discretion is the better part of valor here. Hell, your own ping to the Apple list got beat by publius911 jumping in the slander Apple customers as perverts. No need to make it worse....

I'll wait for the Windows-positive tech press to see the Gartner figures and write articles about how Apple is doing well while PCs continue to tank.

The articles should be out any minute... Holding my breath.... Turning blue...

(Geez at least you'd think The Register would save my life... Maybe I'll post this one: PC shipments slump in Q3, thanks to free Windows 10 ... that ought to liven things up...)

Damn, dayglored, and here I was, dusting off the Popcorn Cart. . . and about to ping ThunderSleeps so he could sell Cotton Candy. . .

Or referee, which ever seems more beneficial. . .

Maybe ambulance services, would be more in order?

Okay, see what I just did: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3346539/posts

Even put in a plug for Apple's good numbers and your thread. How's that? :-)

OTOH, I swear everybody is asleep tonight, or reading the political threads. Nobody gives a sh*t about computers tonight -- not a single comment yet on my thread, and yours is cruising on present company.

I'm going to bed.

Next recession Apples PC share will tumble. Only idiots spend 5 times more on an Apple laptop. Chromebooks do 90% of what the average computer user needs and the latest 14 and 15 inch and 16 inch are in the $300 to $500 range. A fool and his money are soon parted.

Byes, but you bought a Chromebook.

A fool and his money are soon parted, indeed.

You are a silly brainless elitist. At least be an elitist for something worthwhile. Too silly to understand that for 90% of computer buyers they will be perfectly pleased with a 13.3" to 15.6" chromebook that costs 20-25% what an Apple laptop goes for.

When we have the next recession-depression Apple sales will crater along with its stock price. Only reason Apple is riding high is the Federale Reserve and other central banks flooding the planet with phony fiat money. When this gives way so will our stock market, real estate market and sales of absurdly priced Apple products. iphone and ipad sales will evaporate as android sales of fones and tablets take over as they should.

Mac news daily site will disappear. This is where swordmaker gets the appleßot propaganda he posts

Amazon prices-
  1. 13.3" chromebook is $342.99  ----- newest version of chromebook and top of the line
  2. Macbook 13.3" $1,177.97  ---newest model

  2. Macbook 13.3" $1,177.97  ---newest model

So a 13.3" chromebook is 30% the price of the MacBook. And for 90% of computer users this is all they need

For 15.6" laptops at Amazon the chromebook is 21.7% the price of the macbook

  1. $2,300.00 for macbook pro at Amazon
  2. -
  3. $499.99-         Acer Chromebook 15 CB5-571-58HF (15.6-Inch Full HD, Intel Core i5, 4GB, 32GB SSD)

Now who is the fool! Look in the mirror for your answer.

Suddenly I see your point; the iPhone, iPad, and Apps store are but unprofitable illusions.

Too silly to understand that for 90% of computer buyers they will be perfectly pleased with a 13.3" to 15.6" chromebook that costs 20-25% what an Apple laptop goes for.

Hey, if you want to protect your privacy and security with a cheap screen door, go right ahead. One way or another you're going to pay the price. I guess I'd rather pay once upfront for a non-NSA friendly device and be done with it. Do those cheap PCs come with a LifeLock® subscription?

I didn't click those Amazon links, but undoubtedly they're connected to your Amazon kickback account. Right?

Very totalitarian of you to determine what the people need, comrade dennis. Do these PCs come with a LifeLock® account as well?

And are those links connected to your Amazon kickback account?
