“When it comes to Pollock, the saying comes to mind, “If I can do it, it ain’t Art.”
You can’t do it.

You know what they don’t like?
His subjects are too lily white for them.

It is a matter of taste and I did not call Mr. Pollock any names. So apparently my lack of taste is offset by your shaky reading comprehension. But since you opened that door I can only plead that random drips of color vomited on to giant canvases by a chronic alcoholic simply doesn’t do it for me. My BA was in History and then a Masters in Business (concentration in international marketing). So I concede your Masters of Fine Arts qualifies you to become incensed when a mere “layman” expresses an opinion. I’ll just continue to enjoy all the cow and barn paintings I’ve seen at the Hermitage, the Louvre, the Rijksmuseum, the Guggenheim, and the Metropolitan.

With regard to your put down of Mark Rothko - one question. Do you enjoy sunsets? If so look at your example again and open your mind a bit.I never could figure out them 3D puzzles. I'm just seeing a couple pieces of french toast.

I’m also an educated artist. I understand what Pollock was trying.
His work is still crap.
So are Rothko’s monochomatic rectangles of nothingness.

I had a good “impression” of Renoir. Same with Monet, Manet and Tippy Tippy Day Day.

He used to paint houses in my hometown. He was really good at trim work.

Helen really seemed to respond to Renoir. I think she really connected to the way he painted children.

That was fun. I thought the men especially looked great. The women needed a little photoshopping to remove some or all of their makeup to fit the painting's time period.

Yes, I enjoy sunsets.
You may think that resembles a sunset. I don't. I dislike modern "art" intensely. To me, it is harsh and ugly. It's not a matter of opening my mind. It's a matter of personal taste, thank you.
Sounds like you are a fan. Enjoy.

I also liked the Sean Connery one.

"I love Rothko."
I like Shopko better, but Rothko does have some good specials now and then.
