“Capturing and torturing an arguably friendly military member for no apparent reason is a long way from a smart move.”
Everyone on this show is crazy.

So I gather that Daniel was a regime torturer, not an innocent refugee who fled to the US.

Because people richer than you deserve to have their property destroyed.

Interesting that the black guy offered Nick a key, like Randall Flagg offered Lloyd a key in “The Stand”

Yeah I’m having trouble getting a read on the black guy in the cell. I’m thinking he has the potential of becoming a “Governor” type.

If he has heroin stashed somewhere, Nick will become his slave, haha.

Yeah. It was good to see that many of the people taken were actually being cared for. I just hope the doc winds up being one of the good guys...she seems to be trying. I think the doc and Liza connected when Liza reached for that “captured bolt” thingee.

The only part of the show I understood was the Liza/Doctor scenes. And somewhat, the scenes with Travis and the military.

Good observation!
There were many scenes in this ep that I just didn’t understand. Maybe next week’s ep will clarify some.

Bwahaha - I wish I had a nickel for every time some fanboy on the internet used the line "It's a show about zombies (or superheroes or vampires or space aliens, etc.) it's not supposed to be real, or you can't possibly know how people would react! OMG LOLZZZZ!!!!"
There are certain constants to human nature, and a life-threatening crisis is a life threatening crisis, whether it be combat against other soldiers or combat against zombies, or a fire or an earthquake or whatever. Truth is, people don't behave the way these people are depicted in this show, or many others. I'll give you a simple example, because I suspect you need one: you and your group have been attacked by vampires already. It's night. You hear a strange noise down in the basement. Do you go down there alone, unarmed, shouting "Is someone down here? Bob, is that you?" The answer is no. Actually, the answer is NO WAY IN HELL. Unless you have some compelling reason, like someone is down there who needs your help, your mind will be in such a state of fear and self-preservation that it simply will not allow you to take such a ridiculous risk without a damn good reason. It wouldn't even occur to you to do so.
Other simple examples could be that you're in a zombie apocalypse and daddy just yelled at his kid to be quiet. Does that kid shout "You're mean daddy!" and run out into the wilderness because his feelings were hurt? Once again, hell no. You'd probably be lucky to peel that kid off of your leg, he'd be so glued to you.
You ever seen people in a real threat situation, like a man with a gun in a grocery store, or a bear roaming through the campground? People huddle together, usually around whomever represents the greatest protection, i.e. the big man or the man with the gun, bat or sword. It's instinctive. When I see shows depict people violating the hell out of that instinct I laugh at them and tend to lose interest. I don't know what people wil do exactly in a zombie apocalypse, but I do know what they WON'T do. But hey, you keep on being so self-satisfyingly open-minded. lol

Actually, it wasn’t Herschel I was thinking of. I had to go look it up - it was Dale the old hippie who constantly spouted off about the need for restricting guns, even before they got to the farmhouse, IIRC. Of course, then he got eaten, so there was that consolation.
People like Freepers who have strong beliefs are not going to be swayed by silly shows like TWD. However, those who are impressionable, or don’t know any better, like most kids, might. How do you think the whole gay thing got so much traction?

Something about the device used on
livestock and adapted for humans to
prevent reanimation made me recall
college meat technology courses. I seem
to recall that device is used to stun
cattle, I believe. After stunning
the beef is shackled and hung upside
down. The throat is then cut. The
heart is still pumping which evacuates
approximately 85% of the blood. That is
why supermarket meat tends to have a lot
less blood in the package than wild game
shot in the field.
