A Waco police sergeant has been placed on indefinite suspension after he allegedly assaulted a local doctor near the mans office in June.
Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said the decision to indefinitely suspend Sgt. Jason Barnum was made Sept. 10 and was based upon an internal investigation into Barnums behavior.
The doctor who was allegedly assaulted did not wish to file criminal charges, and no further action was taken in that regard, Swanton said.
Barnum, a member of the departments drug enforcement unit, allegedly punched a doctor employed at Providence Health Center about noon on June 29 in the 7000 block of New Sanger Road, near the hospital.
