I saw it totally differently. The hateful hostility of lil' Steffy just bounced off SuperCruz. At the conclusion of the second segment, Colbert was on the mat, gasping and seemed awed that he had been incapacitated by a true Texas Conservative.
I liked when Colbert tried to impress upon Cruz that the Constitution is silent of marriage. Colbert thought he scored a debating point.
Cruz then agreed, saying absoulty, thats why its a States decision.
Colbert repeated his argument, thinking Cruz did not understand
Cruz then agreed once more, stated something like - the 10th amendment, if is not written down as a Federal duty, the issue falls to the States.
At that point Colbert dropped the matter, as he realized he had been beaten like an old mule
