"According to Weeks, the filmmakers behind Black Mass didnt consult with anyone within the inner circle about the movie, and as a result, there are major discrepancies between what really happened and what happens onscreen".
Nah, a Hollywood movie that plays loose with facts, say it ain’t so.
The flaw in the movie was the Kevin Bacon character. How was pretty much the center of.the deception, not some skeptical manager.
Let me guess...Depp plays a mean Reagan conservative? Or is he a caring liberal who gives away free candy and balloons to underprivileged children at the orphanage?
I don’t go to see Johnny Depp movies.
At least Depp put his money where his mouth was, and actually moved to France.
I would much prefer to watch four consecutive This Old House episodes (the best show on TV) than that particular movie.
Ain’t that the truth! I saw “Noah” and they followed the Bible word for word. :)
The title of the movie “Black Mass” is deceptive. I was all set not to see this film if it was centered around a Witch and Warlock type Black Mass. Turns out that was just a metaphor for a depraved ritual of torture and survival by a mobster. I may or may not see it, but at least in this movie, Johnny Depp is not playing a mascara caked, foppish sounding Pirate.
Your story will be told. You can either help make it accurate or not.
Well Kevin, you should have wrote a book. Then you’d be gettin’ paid.
Of course it’s fiction. It’s a frigging movie.
Isn’t Johnny Depp facing 10 years in Prison for Smuggling a Dog into Australia??

Oh, That’s right I forgot, the Little Wussie convinced his Wife to take the rap!!
A real Man’s Man Huh!
You know what gets me about movies like this, is why are they basing it on a real person in the first place? Is Hollywood so brain dead that they cannot come up with original crime stories? We see all these shows on TV that are brilliant original crimes stories, Breaking bad, Oz, Boardwalk Empire, yet the A listers always have to make these movies based on real life slimebags as if they are heroes that must be celebrated.
Actually, Kevin Weeks has penned three books.
He’s going off the deep end (or the Depp end?) in my opinion. The way he talks now I would say he’s got a bit of a heroin issue going on there. I’ve dealt with enough junkies in my time to recognize the good old “junkie voice” where the voice gets super looooow and relaaaaxed and slooow not to mention his teeth seem to be having problems of late. I suspect that’s the real reason his wife left him. All that money and it means nothing if one loses their spirituality. He should have never hung out with Keith Richards, seriously.

He should have sold the rights. Probably wouldn’t have changed the movie any, but it would change his bank account.
Great article. Whenever I see a movie that is based on a person, a true event or whatever I always assume the movie will 90 to 95% B.S.
Somehow I don’t think anyone in Hollywood cares about the facts or buying rights to books. The Hollywood types just make stuff up as they go along.
