Soft degrees in areas that don't pay well result in lower average wages for women.
Men usually work more risky jobs, longer hours, have degrees in the technical field and this means they, on average, earn more than women.
That ‘wage gap’ is NOT proof of a war on women, it is a reflection of type of degree and job.
The longer hours you mention shouldn’t be ignored when discussing the “wage gap”; the men I work with have become so disgusted at the shorter work days of women that many of us have taken to “working like girls” (working the bare minimum - which is still longer than many of the women). The non-discrimination policies designed by lawyers to protect women are now protecting us from any repercussions; there are too many electronic means available to prove the men are still working longer.
