Search teams have recovered the body of a missing hiker who was killed by a flash flood in Utah's Zion national park in Utah. The group, identified late Thursday, were washed away soon after they secured a permit to explore the canyon. The men and women were washed away on Monday afternoon. Harsh price for taking a stupid risk, you should take a hard look at all the possibilities and be prepared. That being said the Forest Service should have never approved the permit with the predicted weather. But it's OK, it will be we taxpayers paying the huge settlements to the hikers families not the Forest Service personnel that issued the permit.
You have to get a permit??????????
Imagine their surprise.
There are many slot canyons in national parks out west that are death traps during storms. Why those hikers went after being warned about storm activity is mystifying. Some people dare the fates.
Idiots who have no respect for the power of nature and the advice of experts.
But they bought cool wetsuits and a bunch of rope...doesn’t that make them experts?
I bet they had some reaaaally cool hiking apps on their Iphones too.

What a stupid reason to die.
7 likely liberals insisting on being one with nature.
More people die each year from drowning each year versus tornados, lightening and hurricanes.
12 inches of fast flowing water will float and carry away most cars.
Imagine what that water can do to a human trying to stand in that fast current.
But they will continue to vote for decades.
Sliding rapidly for miles on sandstone. How abrasive.
Mother Nature can be very unforgiving.

Years agoI hiked up that canyon.
For most of the time there is no trail and you must walk in the river, due to the walls being right at the river’s edge.
Speaking of abrasive: my filthy tennis shoes ended up brand new clean looking from all the tumbling rocks rubbing up against them.
Never have I been able to duplicate that cleanliness with a garden hose.
