Jeb Bush says his brother "kept us safe." He's wrong.

Defending his brother's record as president at CNN's Republican presidential debate, Jeb Bush had a simple answer: "He kept us safe."

It's an answer Jeb has given before and that conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer has cited as George W. Bush's main legacy.

But it's not true.

For one thing: The vast majority of people killed on American soil by terrorists throughout the entirety of American history were killed during George W. Bush's administration. It's not even close. And this was followed up by the deaths of an even larger number of Americans during Bush's invasion of Iraq.

It would be a bit of a stretch to say that the thousands of innocent Americans killed on 9/11 were Bush's fault, but it's certainly not to his credit that it happened during his administration, and it's mind-boggling that the Bush family thinks it deserves special credit for its success in keeping the country safe from terrorism when no other administration has presiding over an attack nearly that devastating.

Bush did not keep us safe from the Chinese either. Remember how they rammed one of our planes and kept the pilots captive for several days? Bush did NOTHING in retaliation.

You have to admit it was a total crack up when Trump said that after GW’s last 3 mos in office Abraham Lincoln couldn’t have gotten elected.

That was the hammer hitting the nail on the head right there. He could have hit that nail a little harder IMO though.

I agree

rc have you forgotten the attacks on our US bases in our own country. Have you forgotten the beer summit, which set the stage for police hatred. Bush had one attack on US soil. Under O, Isis is now in every state. Plus using the reasoning that so many deaths happened on his watch was because it was during one day 9/11, several months after his inauguration. Let's look at 8 years of Clinton, who failed to remedy the problem while in office, unless blowing up a factory was supposed to rid of terrorism.

I can't believe I just read this malarkey.

But .. IT WAS NOT GW WHO CAUSED THE TOWERS TO GET KNOCKED DOWN .. THAT LITTLE PROBLEM BELONGS SOLELY TO WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON.

And .. I think I recall that we had no other attacks upon American soil while GW was president ..??

You certainly insinuated that he was at fault because he did not "keep us safe" during his administration.....that is to blame him for the attack.......if you didn't like Bush, O.K., but to blame him for the attack that was probably planned from the time that CARTER let the Shaw of Iran be deposed is asinine at best.

Read the past paragraph of the excerpt that I posted: "It would be a bit of a stretch to say that the thousands of innocent Americans killed on 9/11 were Bush's fault, but it's certainly not to his credit that it happened during his administration, and it's mind-boggling that the Bush family thinks it deserves special credit for its success in keeping the country safe from terrorism when no other administration has presiding over an attack nearly that devastating."

That was my only point.

W’s biggest failure was his failure to defend himself or conservatism.

Thanks to W we got 0bummer.

I can’t think of a bigger failure in recent history.

I can’t agree with you on this one. His economy was much better than Oblunderer’s when you consider we had 9/11 and had to go to war. By pushing through tax cuts the economy kept going and we had no terrible economy until nearly the end of his term but during this time the Dems were blaming GWB for everything and blocking every chance to keep the economy coming. That being said, GWB has never defended himself which was a tremendous mistake and his other mistake was trying to build a democracy in a country that has no ability to sustain one nor I think any desire for one politically or culturally but the Dems playing politics with the war and the media formenting discontent, all they wanted to do was cause a defeat for the US and bring a Communist/Islamist into office.

Bush’s legacy is Barrack H. Obama, the worst president we’ve ever had.

Perhaps you are unaware of the concept of the Uniparty? The specter of “left/right” has become obsolete in our age of Obama, because the Bush White House backed Obama over Palin/McCain. The Bushes love Obamacare. Plus there’s the liberal, leftish truth that George W. Bush funded Planned Parenthood for eight years: http://www.wnd.com/2008/10/79317/

W. is a liberal, just like his Dad.

Rove just dressed W. up like Reagan at his Ojai “ranch” for the 2000 campaign.

And we fell for it.

Just to be clear, the Bush White House assigned Bernake to school Obama on the financial crisis their friends on Wall Street caused on September 11, 2008.

With the attacks on Trump by this same financial Establishment cabal, it's increasingly clear they pulled the trigger on the stock market that day in order to submarine Palin/McCain.

Think I'm overreaching?

I'm not. The Bush White House also “assigned” Steve Schmidt (Rove’s helper buddy on the ‘04 election) to McCain's campaign after working a deal with McCain not to run in 04 as Kerry's VP. Kerry/McCain ticket was polling 14 pts ahead of Bush/Cheney. The bipartisan veteran ticket was very popular during the Iraq war quagmire.

So Rove worked a deal with McCain not to run, and the Bush White House, if reelected, would back McCain to run in 2008. McCain was still hopping mad at Rove/Bush for all the dirty tricks he pulled on him in the 2000 primary. Steve Schmidt was McCain's door prize, and sure enough, McCain called him to work on his presidential campaign moments after the ‘06 mid terms were over.

Rove/Bush/GOPe was desperate when McCain wanted to run with Joe Lieberman as his VP that summer. McCain knew another bipartisan ticket was a winner and a sort of spit in the eye to the Bush GOPe. Rove put up a huge fight in the press as he wanted McCain to pick Romney. But McCain hated Mitt. So it went to Palin.

Immediately another Bush insider, Nicolle Wallace, married to another Bush insider, Mark Wallace, was assigned to Palin and the rest of their sabotage of her is history. (BTW, Nicolle's buddy, Katie Couric? Weird how no one knows she is also a Bushie.) I believe the Bush GOPe triggered the emergency stock market crash to throw the election to Obama, because the Bushes and the Clintons (and Obamas) are all on the same NWO team, and Christian conservatives like Sarah Palin are anathema to them — NOT to be trusted with the Elite's government secrets.

The same personages and institutions who were gunning for Palin are now gunning for Trump, for the same reasons.

They are outsiders and do not fully understand the depth of the Uniparty evil. The JebGOPe will go to what looks to us like preposterous lengths to keep Trump at bay. Watch.
