Higher screen resolution, larger screen on the iPad, not as expandable in storage as the Surface, but capable of cellular connectivity. The optional Apple Pencil is far better than the Stylus that comes with the Microsoft Pen that comes with the Surface. Connectivity is probably better on the Surface, not counting cellular.

Oh, and the iPad is lighter and thinner, even though it's bigger.
