A US amusement park that has a record number of thrilling rides has revealed plans for the tallest, fastest and longest dive roller coaster in the world.

The ride called Valravn (val-rey-vuhn), at Cedar Point, in Sandusky, Ohio, promises to be a terrifying experience, as daredevil passengers will free fall a record 214ft at a 90-degree angle and top speed of 75mph.

With stomach-churning twists and turns, Valravn will set 10 world records when it debuts in the summer of 2016 at the theme park on a Lake Erie peninsula.

“Debbie Downer” here. Can those speeds and steep drops cause brain and spinal injuries?

Cedar Park already has one that’s about 400 feet high. Why are they calling this the world’s tallest if it’s 215 feet high?

Makes one wonder how many elected Republicans in DC have ridden on something like that.

The new ride will be the tallest Dive Coaster.

The tallest coaster is now Kingda-Ka at 6Flags in NJ. It is the "same" ride as Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point, just taller. We have been on both and much prefer Top Thrill Dragster. The added height on Kingda-Ka did something to the physics/engineering of the ride and made it a way rougher ride than TTD. I have ridden TTD multiple times in one day, just getting back in line after each ride...it is that good!

Went to Cedar Pointe this summer. Got there early, parked in the back by the marina, which is right next to the Top Thrill Dragster. Never rode it, clearly the best at the park and there was no one in line. That’s when my son saw all those people running from the front of the park to get in line for the ride. We just turned left and were the first ones to ride that day. Line averages over 2 to 3 hours to get one. BEST FRIGGIN RIDE OF MY LIFE! Can’t wait for this new ride!

We’d go. Love Cedar Point. This is the best time of year, still warm but no crowds.

I think they’re just counting it as the longest vertical dive at 215 ft and not the highest rollercoaster.

If I really want a terrifying experience I’ll drive a car in California.

Different kind of coaster. The 400 footer is the Top Thrill Dragster which accelerates you to 100mph at the start to go up and over the 427 foot hill.

From what I understand, the dive coaster suspends you for a moment as you dangle over the drop before releasing you.

For my money, the best coaster there is the Millennium Force which is more of a traditional ride that takes you to 327 feet. The Magnum XL 200 is no slouch either at 205 feet.

The Millennium:

So just how many times have you done that?

In this image you can see the Top Thrill Dragster (yellow and red) set back behind the Millennium Force (blue).

As somebody who experiences back pain on and off, I'd say the steel ones are much smoother and better on the back then the smaller wooden style ones.

Cedar Point has one called the "Mean Streak" that is very painful on the back. Going around a turn I felt like I had to hold my spine in. After getting off I told my kid she'd be going on it herself from now on. Personally, I now prefer to go round and round on the train with an occasional break at the saloon.

Here is a complete list of roller coasters at Cedar Point if anybody is interested.

I like all the rides at Cedar Point...well, except the woodies...really appreciate the art and engineering but cannot tolerate the ride!

Our launch speed was 122 mph one one TTD launch...
