My son and his wife adopted what the shelter said was half weimaraner, half lab. He looked like just that. Light eyes, golden coat, long ears and a lab-shaped head.
As he grew, the head changed, and the very muscular physique showed up. It became very apparent that “lab” was not the other half.
I really believe the shelter did not know.
He is a very active dog, and seems to protect the young children that come to the house, despite the pit-bull half.
I’m in no position to make a determination on this.
I would only urge you to always error on the side of safety.
We all love our pets. Not trying to insult you or yours.
We have found my parents’ dog will walk or stand in front of the children when there is any sort of friction in the house. She has not been aggressive with anyone (except when I danced in front of her once),just stands in between people.
