ACT is still around; that is the exam I took in 1967.
The SAT was taken by students who wanted to attend more exclusive public or private schools. A good number of state colleges and universities, especially in the Midwest used the ACT to judge if a student was capable of doing college level work.
Thanks for the info. 1967 was when I took the ACT also. I was heading to Mississippi State Univ.
