Years ago I decided to mute all cell phone sounds. I determine when to do phone calls, when to check email, and when to text. I don't allow inanimate devices to interrupt me (unless expecting an important call - still my decision).

It's much easier to remain in the moment (in other words, in life).

Multi-tasking is not productive. I've spent my entire life practicing focus.

I often tell people, what did people do before cell phones? You waited and called people at normal times. I remember when an answering machine was a new-fangled thing many people did not have. People talk and text all the time, can’t make a toilet trip without their phones. I laugh at my husband who used to comment when I didn’t answer a text “what if I was in a ditch”. I would say, well, I hope you call 911 instead of me lol!

There is no time for careful thought or reflection anymore it seems.
