The Eagles have released Tim Tebow, ending the former Heisman Trophy winner's bid to win the No. 3 quarterback job for Chip Kelly in Philadelphia.
Tebow was one of 22 players released Saturday by the Eagles, who also cut veteran offensive lineman John Moffitt and rookie running back Raheem Mostert.
All NFL teams must reduce their rosters to 53 players by 4 p.m. ET on Saturday, but Tebow appeared to be in contention for a roster spot after Philadelphia traded Matt Barkley to the Arizona Cardinals on Friday.
The move leaves Kelly and the Eagles with two quarterbacks on their current roster. Tebow, 28, and Barkley had been competing for the Eagles' No. 3 quarterback job behind Sam Bradford, who has a lengthy injury history, and Mark Sanchez.
Kelly said Saturday that the Eagles were planning on acquiring a third quarterback.
Bradford looked sharp in limited preseason action, but he had surgery to repair a torn left ACL twice since he last played in a regular-season game in October 2013.
It's possible Tebow returns to the Eagles if either Bradford or Sanchez get hurt. He also can come back after the season opener and his contract won't be guaranteed.

Of course Bradford is going to be injured again. How many can his body take?
I think that what going happen Tebrow would be back
Thanks to Chip Kelly, Tebow at least got a look. Kelly apparently is the only coach not blackballing Tebow. How the heck does Sanchez make a team. RGIII ? Too many to name. I hope it is a year of QB injuries and Tebow gets a call.
The Eagles are betting on fool’s gold with Bradford’s bionic pins and Chip Kelly must be thinking he’s smarter than the Rams’ medical staff. I see a train wreck in the future.

Hope he gets picked up by someone who will play him.
I fink what that hopped DuBrow sing hard Quiet Riot.
I don’t know why Jacksonville won’t give Tebow a spot. At the very least, he’ll put butts in seats and might even win a few games. It’s not like that Jags would suck even more.
Sanchez is already injured IMO.
He’s like the Terminator..
He’ll be bock.
The Tebownator!
I think the Jags are owned by one or more muslims. If true, that would almost certainly be a factor.
‘cours if a muslim or homosexual was passed over for even the most legitimate reasons, all hell would break loose from ESPN to the NFL boardrooms.

The NFL likes their “personality” players to be bad boys. I doubt that muslim Shad Khan wants a guy like Tebow.
While I agree with you 100%, I believe the owner of the Jags is a Muslim (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shahid_Khan) and it would be very much offensive to Muslims to have Christian players who honor Jesus.
Fifth thread in about two hours. What’s the record?
So Blake Bortles is a “bad boy?” Do you know him? I don’t think you do.

Bortles isn’t a “personality” player. He’s just a player. The “personality” players are the RGIIIs, Michael Vicks, etc of the NFL. Tebow would be a “personality” because he is bigger than his field presence, like those other personalities.
About 15 or so. Seriezly.
