Tom Brady will be at next Thursdays season-opener at Gillette Stadium, but Roger Goodell will not.
According to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports, Goodell will not be in attendance at Sept. 10s game between the Patriots and Steelers. He reports that Goodell and the NFL believe the focus should be on the game and festivities.
The Patriots will be raising their Super Bowl banner and typically the commissioner is in attendance at the opening game.
Brady and the NFLPA beat Goodell and the NFL in the Deflategate case, as on Thursday Judge Richard Berman nullified Bradys four-game suspension.

Does anyone seriously believe that Goodell would have gone to Gillette if Brady had lost yesterday and the suspension was upheld?
Absolutely not. He’s a gutless snake...as I said.
This is a a battle between two unlikables. An organization with a cheating mentality and a commissioner who offers many reasons to dislike him. He’s a prototypical RINO in political terms who has cow towed to every special interests group possible and wussified the league. He also was given carte blanche to discipline but the court system has now completely overstepped to the same level he has been accused of in recent years.
Having him in foxboro that day would in fact be another mark on the league. He probably should take his medicine, though, and go simply to follow recent protocol with these Thursday games.
Arguments about deflated footballs seem so utterly petty when Americans are going to prison for their Christian beliefs.
Ok, so you avoid wasting bandwidth by clicking on links that don’t interest you. Bye.
This is why I stopped watching games long ago.
Why doesn't the NFL just cut the crap and start fielding attorneys to tackle each other with subpoenas and lawsuits?
It’s not just this forum, this ridiculous soap opera is spewed non-stop from all forms of media like it’s a national tragedy.
If football arguments eclipse the attack on freedom in this country for you, you are the one with the problem, bud.
What I find striking about this is that the NFL considers loss of evidence PROOF of a crime.
And here we have the former SoS going to heroic efforts to destroy evidence but we are supposed to believe she is innocent as the wind driven snow.
So we expect higher standards of game players than we do of people running the country.
I can’t believe more people aren’t talking about this aspect of this.
And yet, here you still are.
I couldn’t agree more. Any name from the phone book could do as a good a job. And for a lot less money
Judge Berman must have drafted Brady in his fantasy football league. The sad part about this entire thing is that Brady - a rich pretty boy, gets away with cheating, but the $60,000 per year equipment manager looses his job for only doing what he was asked to do. There is no doubt in my mind that Brady not only knew about it, but made the request, on his cell phone which, conveniently came up damaged.....
{snicker}
Who’dathunk’it that Goodell needed actual evidence to suspend a player?
‘Likely’ just isn’t enough.
Maybe, Goodell will be watching via a big screen TV.

Too bad the judge won’t rule on some real issues — like ala carte cable TV and such.
Sore loser. Makes it seem like it was personal for Goodell.
The equipment people will be working at the game Thursday evening - the Krafts said so on Boston radio this AM. The investigation didn’t land a glove on Brady -the Cato Institute proved that. The one you call the rich pretty boy is the one that defeated the all the rich pretty boys - he was a middle class catholic school boy. He had to beat RICH Brian Griese RICH Drew Henson RICH Drew Bledsoe. He’s a winner like Trump. Winners win - get behind some winners.
Judge Berman 2016 ! - Pump it UP!
soooo, I ilgipper, who’s your team?
Yourteamcheats.com
Agreed.
Try not to weep.
