Trump: I'm 'Totally Pledging' My Allegiance To The Republican Party
npr ^ | 9-3-2015 | JESSICA TAYLOR

Donald Trump is "totally pledging" his allegiance to the GOP and promising not to mount a potentially damaging third-party bid for president.

The billionaire businessman said Thursday he had signed the Republican National Committee's "Loyalty Pledge," which says he will support the eventual nominee and not run as an independent or on another party line.

"I will be totally pledging my allegiance to the Republican Party and the conservative principles for which it stands," said Trump.

Trump made his announcement at the Trump Towers lobby in New York City after meeting with RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. While many had expected Trump would sign the pledge, one GOP source stressed this morning that, "With Trump, nothing is certain until it's final."

Trump was the only GOP presidential candidate not to raise his hand at last month's debate to pledge he wouldn't run as a third-party candidate.

Stay classy.

....."Trump has kissed the ring of the RNC and is no longer independent... which is the one admirable quality he had... not to mention, he seems to be moving way left on immigration from the presser...... I’ll take the guy that has been fighting for conservatism his whole life".....

Ted Cruz has an outstanding record of fearlessly and tenaciously fighting every day for our religious freedom, adherence to the Constitution, reducing the size and scope of the Federal Government, an for Israel’s survival and against the Iran-Deal, which poses a long-term existential threat to the entire free world......so I too will remain in his court...

I am not familiar with this candidate Principles.

Again, it appears you have no answer to the crisis our nation is in but thanks anyway. Please let me know when you have this ideal candidate that will be elected.

In the meantime, Trump is saying what I want to hear about illegal immigration. He is saying what I wnat to hear about trade. He is saying what I want to hear about planned Parenthood. He is saying what I want to hear about the economy.

I ain’t voting for no pagan medium that communes with spirits!!!

“I will be totally pledging my allegiance to the Republican Party and the conservative principles for which it stands,”

Isn’t that oddly phrased as in “I am NOT having sex with that woman!”?

Sounds like the Donald will make the pledge at some point in the future, like after HE becomes the GOP candidate or at some future time when he isn’t running. Bill C masked his lies under similar sounding evasions. Why is Trump talking like he’s lieing?

So basically, the same old “we have to vote for this guy if we want to win, even if he isn’t a conservative and doesn’t have our interests at heart” argument?

Isn’t that what got us in this mess in the first place?

So do all of us enjoy FR. So why can’t Donna express her boredom without being told to leave this forum or “Carlos Danger” herself. We all know there are lots of opinions here some not well researched but that is why we come here. If people can beat on Trump she can be bored.

“Knock it off!....Freepers have every right to vet and give their opinions on any candidate.....when you make comments like that you’re simply showing ‘your opposed to freedom of expression’...which as Freepers we all have.”

Do you see the irony of your post? “donna” told no one they weren’t allowed to say anything, and yet you tell her to knock it off.

Trump is not an elite. He worked with his dad, from the time he was young, invested what inheritance money he received, and has instilled those same American values in his kids (you work for/earn what you get).

George Washington wasn’t a “common man”, either. He inherited a very nice sum from his father. Washington “equated with that level”, quite well, I would say.

They better not do a repeat of George Romney in 1964.

If Trump wins the primary, I bet the media will call him an etch-a-sketch like Romney.

And unfortunately, there will not be a lack of material showing that Trump has flip-flopped too.

Trump needs to repent.

Romney lost because he never did repent.

Again...am not saying Trump hasn’t earned and worked for his wealth....but we all know he cannot claim he understands the common man’s plight nor should he profess so when his advantages were well beyond the advantages most would have.

And yes Trump is an elite.....we’ve all quite clearly seen his behavior displayed.....

adjective....one who is ..snobbish, exclusive, superior, arrogant, selective, pretentious, stuck-up , patronizing, condescending, snooty , uppity, high and mighty , hoity-toity , high-hat

What he says is more conservative than what the republicans are saying. Let’s hear what they have to say.

Blah blah blah .....

I am waiting for you to tell us who the greater of evils is.

Trump certainly isn’t my first choice. I preferred Cruz. Then Jindal. Then maybe Walker. None of them have stepped up and I don’t see it happening.

I am not doing cartwheels because Trump is the frontrunner. It is what it is. If I have to make the choice between Trump and Hillary, it will be Trump.
