Obama in Alaska: "We will condemn our children to a planet beyond their repair"
Daily Mail ^ | September 1, 2015 | AP

President Barack Obama is painting a doomsday scenario for the Arctic and beyond if climate change isn't dealt with fast: entire nations submerged underwater, cities abandoned and refugees fleeing in droves as conflict breaks out across the globe.

It's a harrowing image of a future that Obama insists is inevitable unless the world follows his and America's lead by making sweeping cuts to greenhouse gases.

Lest his sense of urgency get lost, Obama was to drive the message home on Tuesday by hiking a melting glacier in Alaska.

Obama is counting on Alaska's exquisite but deteriorating landscape to elicit a sense of urgency that his previous calls to action on climate change have not.

He opened his three-day trip to the nation's largest state on Monday with a speech to an Arctic climate summit, calling global warming an escalating crisis already disturbing Alaskans' way of life.

'We will condemn our children to a planet beyond their capacity to repair,' Obama said. Alluding ironically to the threat of rising seas, he castigated leaders who deny climate change as 'increasingly alone - on their own shrinking island.'

Meanwhile, amid concerns that the U.S. has ceded influence to Russia in strategic Arctic waters, the White House announced Tuesday that it would ask Congress to speed up construction of new icebreakers to protect U.S. interests and natural resources. The U.S. currently has two working icebreakers, compared to Russia's 40.

“If you like your plan; you can keep your plan. If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor; period. Under my plan every family’s medical insurance cost will be reduced $2500. per year.”

Words cannot express the disdain I have for that lying, loathesome creep. And it isn’t that I believed him. I knew better. It’s the fact that he sails on, from one outrageous lie to the next, and NOBODY calls him on it. This latest windbag outrage is Exhibit-A!

“We will condemn our children to a planet beyond their repair”

We already have, due to unsustainable spending and debt.

The weather will take care of itself like always.

Did he not say that once he was elected the seas would stop rising?

I suppose that since they were not rising in the first place it is a self-fulfilling prophecy?

Yeah buddy, our boy-president is off in Alaska trying to save the world from a make believe man made disaster while his Russian counterpart has crossed the little boys red line in the Syrian desert and is going to exhibit force that will make child president Hussein Obama pee in his pants.

So, O Great One from D.C., what is your next move, step up to the plate or go hide out in the women’s bathroom?

For crying out loud, Obama can't even repair a single mine, yet alone a county, state, country, continent, or planet?

One could prove quite well, the opposite. Everything he touches with the tentacles of government salvation turns to $hit.

I understand your point and concede that is a risk. But the GOP has failed us, and stabbed us in the back so often, that electing them accomplishes little if anything positive.

Consider this please: A poll just showed that a whopping 71% of people think the country is heading in the wrong direction. That is an amazing number for any poll on anything. They are clearly expressing deep levels of frustration with both parties. If ever there was a time for a third party movement this is it. The country has swung too far left (thanks to Dems and Pubbies) and people are mad as hell. They want new leadership and a new direction.

Let me get this straight.

Obama is in Alaska flapping his lips about climate change and ice melting, yet orders new ice breakers.

Excuse me while I bang my head on the wall.

What really chafes my posterior is that the people who actually believe this crap believe neither in God nor Gaia.

If humanity (and I use the term loosely) actually TRIED to destroy the planet, set off all their nukes, spread all of the toxins that they could mine or synthesize all over the place, all at once... In a hundred years things would be back to about normal, and in a thousand years it would take a team of interplanetary archaeologists to figure out that there once was a large and widespread ‘civilization’ here.

Mother Earth is quite able to take care of herself, and her wounds heal just as quickly as ours do, on a geological time scale compared to a human time scale.

The only thing that can ‘kill’ the planet is the sun, should it go either supernova or dark.

I would really like to see a demographic of polling data. Who are they asking and what party affiliation and what part of the country and whether liberal or conservative and how many are in the poll?

Probably not intentional on your part, but the scale is grossly (laughably!) distorted in that picture.

By that I mean the sheer distance between the sun and “Here!” - Earth.

There are websites (easily found) of our solar system that show the *true* proportions *to scale*. Be ready to do a lot of ‘scrolling’.

I bet that 99.9% of people out there have no concept at all of the true scale, having seen nothing but those ‘compressed’ models all their lives. (The sun and all the planets fitting comfortably on one small page.)

I truly urge everyone to take a look at the reality.
