New Yorkers may be rude to tourists, but at least we arent the worst.
Big Apple residents are only No. 2 in rudeness, taking a back seat to the citizens of Arlington, Texas, according to a puzzling nationwide study.
Data analysts at AlchemyAPI, in a study commissioned by air company Stratos Jet Charters, looked at tweets containing the word tourist between June 2014 and July 20 of this year.

LOL!
I’m not angry at all, we’re one of the worst cities to live in the country, somehow coming in at number 2.
We only hate Yankee tourists.
WHAT? Hank Hill is one of the nicest folks from Texas I’ve ever seen!
Arlington is strange because it is uppity while at the same time it seems to suffer from an identity problem.
It’s a suburb of Dallas/Fort Worth, but it insists that it is on par with both towns, mainly because it has six flags and the stadiums where the Cowboys and Rangers play.
Arlington hates it when outsiders refer to it as Dallas.
So no surprise they are considered the rudest.
That explains why they made Greg Hardy their new mayor.
It’s understandable. It’s home to JerryWorld.
I really hate seeing all these great ballparks located in downtown areas while the Rangers play in BFE with no access to mass transit and no atmosphere outside of the stadium. This is one area where Houston has Dallas beat hands down.
“the Rangers play in BFE with no access to mass transit”
what’s the problem?
I’ve been to a bunch of Ranger games and have always had a great time. I never noticed the lack of access to mass transit, whatever that is. I have been to a couple of Astro’s games also and I found their park to be too much of a PITA to park near, I’d rather go to Ranger games.
I think it’s a Dallas-Metroplex thing. The people in Dallas won’t go to events in Ft. Worth and the people in Ft. Worth won’t travel to Dallas and Arlington in right in the middle of them.
Im from Georgia. Over the past three years...ive done several jobs in the city. Three in Manhattan...one in Quenns and one in Astoria.
Ive found nyc folks to be considerate...and very grounded. Especially in Manhattan.
Im a carpenter...with a thick southern accent. Not once did I feel snubbed. Believe me, I live for that shit....not once.
I love the city....in small doses.
Astoria is in Queens. Believe it or no, they haven't made it its own borough yet.
I love the city....in small doses.
Agreed.
If you live for it, and they didn't do it one, then, in a way, they were being ride, right?
And that’s nothing compared to the reaction in Philadelphia. Years of effort to gain first place and they give the award to a bunch of f@#$%&! Texans!
I spent a couple of days in Arlington last summer. I did not find them rude. I did find the place somewhat “plastic.”
I did not like that part of Texas. I found the northwest part more to my liking.
But rude? Naw.
I’ve always found NYC to be cold, but the people I interacted with were all nice. In a hurry and not “warm”, but helpful and nice.
I couldn’t figure out who to reply to - so you’re it!
I am Manhattan born, Long Island raised (Huntington, Plainview, East Northport) and have lived in Calif. for 45 years. Maryland and New Mexico have ‘hosted’ me also.
Here’s my understanding of ‘Noo Yawkers:’
Rather than rude, they are brusque - often in a great big hurry, but will stop and give you a bit of help.
Lastly - just who are actually New Yorkers, hmmmmm????!
People from all over the world move to Manhattan, and stay a short time, or forever.
So, who can say one is interacting with a ‘real’ New Yorker???!!
“We only hate Yankee tourists”
I don’t know how you came in 2nd. New Yorkers hate all tourists, plus most locals.
The only explanation I can think of they did the Arlington portion of the survey entirely on people standing in line at 6 Flags on a Saturday. The wait times would drive anyone to be rude.
Don’t know how you came in 1st, I meant.
