I understand Microsoft wanting to re-deploy their much beloved female from Halo gaming, but they didn't think it through.
What's a "roy voice"? Was that supposed to be "boy voice"?

A roy is a unidentified male.
So a roy voice is an unidentified male voice, hopefully masculine in tone.
