If there was a continual reference to Jeb Bush and another candidate (by this candidate's supporters and/or so on), would you then be persuaded to feel that this GOP presidential election cycle is only between The Donald and Jeb Bush, or would you think that there are other good candidates available, as in Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina, Scott Walker or others?
Must this be an either/or format?
If so, is this a choice between what could be called a high-energy P.T. Barnum-like atmosphere and a low-energy campaign or are there other options available?
Is it now a choice to being between exciting reality TV or to some what could be said to be boring TV?
Is this a situation where it has been posited by supporters saying their guy is the best and the other guy is the worst and there are no other options available?
Would Cruz, Carson, Fiorina, Walker and others themselves say that one must choose between either The Donald or Jeb Bush, or would they say that there are clearly other excellent options available on the GOP side of the nomination process?
If these GOP candidates have been referred to in a positive light by another candidate for the GOP side, is/are the reference/references to them being made in such a way that they are also good candidates worth of consideration to vote for, or is it only a passing reference?
The Donald won’t be a factor.
He’ll be taken out if he realistically threatens to upset the multi-trillion dollar apple cart.
Our only hope is that he chooses a Veep candidate wisely.
Vote for a dead man or vote for Hillary/Biden/Warren/Sanders?
The choice is clear.
Trump, hands down.
I will never vote to turn the USA into North Mexico
The GOPe is perfectly fine with a democrat president and congress.
If Jeb (or any other of the GOPe preferred candidates) wins the primary the voters really don’t have a choice for president.
It’s either uniparty A or uniparty B.
If Trump runs 3rd party and the dims win the GOPe doesn’t really care.
Vote splitting Trump is only a threat to conservatives.
If conservatives stay home rather than vote for Jeb and Hillary (or whoever) wins, again the only people who will really be upset are conservatives.
When the current head of the appropriations committee promises to work WITH the opposition party president, ie Obama, to get things done you know there’s only a single party in DC anymore. And as a MS voter, I can assure you that’s ONE campaign promise that Cochran has KEPT!
Not voting for anyone who sided with Cochran in that scorched earth campaign.
The point is, if even a stopped clock...can be applied to Jesse Jackson can it be applied to Jeb Bush, as you yourself said the article posited a choice between Jeb and The Donald - but in actuality it is others seeming to make this only being between Bush and The Donald with my commenting on this media spectacle.
Who is Jeb Bush?
And that's a bad thing? The more he learns and as ongoing events change what the best response would be, he alters his decisions in effective ways. That's what successful people do.
The new establishment “trick” is to try and split the “not Bush” vote between cruz and trump.
jbush can not win on his own merits, he can only win by splitting up the opposition.
Notice also how they have Christi rehab going as “the alternative loudmouth.
The establishment is trying to find a magic stake.
It’s still August.
Ted Cruz 2016
And were Trump to run as a third party candidate that wouldn’t be the DOA Party?
When this has been brought up - that Trump running as a third party candidate would be the, as you say, “DOA Party” - then some do a bait and switch and say that we have a uniparty already so Trump really wouldn’t be running as a third party. Go figure...
By continually changing the parameters like this instead of being consistent, supports of Trump keep twisting things and acting like liberals.
This market crash is making Trump’s nomination. By the end of the year he will be at 50%+.
Anecdotal evidence does have its merits, but it is still nonetheless...anecdotal after all.
Pataki, Perry, Christie and Rubio aren’t pulling from The Donald, they are pulling from Jeb Bush if anyone.
That post looks apocalyptic in tone, or am I wrong?
Well, there is Cruz.
And then, there is a write-in for Cruz.
So Ted Cruz will turn the USA into Mexico?
I’ve got some real problems with Trump running many of the same campaign strategies as Obama.
Remember when Obama was going to kick the lobbyists and big money to the curb if elected only to hire them as advisors?
Trump says the same thing only to turn around and suggest people like Warren Buffet for his cabinet.
The ‘little boy’ candidates are there for one reason. To split conservatives in their home states and with the particular demograhpics.
Trump is screwing up that magical polling just now.
Hence the hand wringing and gnashing of teeth in the GOPe.
Without Trump in the race, Rubio would split the vote in FL enough to ensure Jebbie took the (winner take all after recent shenanigans) state.
Perry is in the race to do the same thing with Cruz in TX.
You don’t have to be a supporter of Trump to see that’s exactly what the RNC has done in the past 2 presidential elections.
And once their boy wins the primary they stop fighting and in the case of McCain even publically endorse the dim candidate before the election is even held:
Is Ted Cruz a GOPe candidate
Is Ben Carson a GOPe candidate?
Is Scott Walker a GOPe candidate?
Given that the Koch Brothers have been said to be behind Walker (whether this is true or not remains to be seen) and the Koch brothers have butted heads with the establishment more times than once, can it be said about Walker that he is a GOPe candidate?
BTW, Walker is not first or even second on my list at all for the GOP nomination.
Who knows which specific one is the GOPe candidate.
There are literally trillions of dollars in outlays from the federal budget riding on this race. Not to mention amnesty and any other socially impolitic topic you can think of.
Do you think the people who are accustomed to their hands in the trillion dollar feed trough are leaving anything to chance?
Carson and Cruz might not be. Jury is still out on them at my house.
And Scott Walker? Yup, definitely GOPe. Hired the same consultant, Brad Dayspring, that orchestrated the Cochran campaign in ‘14.
