Our troops in various units have been on the DMZ for sixty years. My son did a tour in the STB for Corps command right there about six years ago.

“But why!”

Remember NK is China's regional pit bull on a leash. Maybe China doesn't completely believe the recent chemical “accidents” aren't entirely accidents so they loosened the chain a bit. I don't think NK’s acting out is just coincidental and that they are looking for a check.

Why would they need to be in the most watched (by Norks) spot... just a show.

No way they would all be clustered right there if this were an actual combat deployment.

These guys in the pics are not ready for war. This is a show.

No way they would place them there and so close together for a real war

Well .. if the “balloon goes up” .. most of SoKorea will disappear.

I don't think NK is that stupid. They can't afford a war, they have no money, their people are starving and technologically they're decades behind SK and the US......

From an article I just read, their "air force" consists only of 678 FIGHTER/STRIKE AIRCRAFT - only 8.3% of it designed in the 1970's. The rest is pre-1970's technology. 40 mig 29's built in 1977 and 36 su25's built in 1975. The rest are leftovers from the 50's and 60's......

If that were to happen and US troops were to get hit, North Korea would not have to worry about Obama retaliating.....Obama could care less about America and for sure US Troops. All North Korea has to do is check back with Assad and Syria and Obama’s “red line”, that answers everything.

The Norks have been firing artillery across the DMZ after setting off mines under some ROK soldiers on normal patrol in the DMZ. Kim jong etc is waving his left hand wildly while his right hand is doing something else we, you and I, know not of. Likely the US military in Korea knows.

Them being pushed forward is making big reasons for the norks to keep their balloon flat on the ground. They do not know, no matter how good they might think is their intelligence, whether the US is really capable and willing to inject overwhelming force into North Korea in a very short period.

I totally agree .. they are a paper tiger EXCEPT .. they do have nuclear capabilities .. and they could make a terrible mess - a mess the rest of the world would have to clean up.

I just noticed that in the last two pics the soldier standing outside of the vehicles had no magazine in his weapon. Not exactly a wartime footing. This is all bluff.

they do have nuclear capabilities

Actually, the only evidence that NK has nuclear capabilities is its own declaration in 2009 that they had "A" nuclear weapon....which I don't believe.

Even if they did have A nuclear weapon, SK now has a missile defense system installed that would halt any incoming launched missile from NK.

The Korean war was nasty, with both sides fighting with pretty much the same weaponry and ultimately ended with a cease-fire treaty.

SK and the rest of the civilized world have advanced beyond that day and have created economies that allowed them to continue to militarize to the extent of their needs. NK has not and thus is burdened with antique weaponry and air force and in the event of an actual combat, they would be like high school football players going up against an NFL team.

All the video accounts we see of military parades in NK are propaganda aimed at their own population.

I think it's time that SK says "bring it on" and put an end to all the crap NK has been trying to stir up.

For those who think that China will come to their defense, what does NK have that China would risk going to war with the US and SK considering that China would be throwing away over $400 billion per year in export money to the US...........

*MLRS

Multiple Launch Rocket System

Though I’m not a gun-bunny, my understanding is that a battery can demolish an entire grid square. Or was it a launcher?

I think the general consensus was that NK did have a nuke (NASA video); unfortunately, they do not have a missile competent enough to deliver it.

That’s why they’re always lobbing missiles out into the ocean .. but it’s never close enough to reach the USA, which is the supposed goal.
