Check the ports to make sure they are the same.

Someone may say I’m way off base but I have had to “sync” my email whenever I add a new computer or phone with a dedicated email address.

Maybe worth browsing Google about that subject until the right answer comes along!

Check your email provider (same as internet provider?) and see if they have a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) web page on setting up your email client. Port settings, encryption, and password setting should be listed. Last resort, call customer service. Good luck!

Could be your settings at your email provider changed. Either the ports, or your pop address is now a mail address.

I’m using Outlook 2000 on a Win7 machine, and it works with a few minor cramps. I do recall during the installation there was a choice that went by in a dialog box that was easy to miss. The thing ran poorly. I did a re-install and noticed the box the second time — something like “install backwards compatible” or something like the spirit of that. Ran fine after that. -—for what that may be worth.

OK. Port/install problem solved. Now problem #2.

How the heck do you activate it? There is no mail icon, and when I select mail at the Windows icon, it asks me if I want to change any of my email settings, bit doesn't offer to download or let me read any email. How do I access my mail? Thanks again.

Are you using Norton’s anti-virus? I used to, until its firewall kept shutting out Outlook.
