There was a peculiar moment during a news segment last fall, at the height of the Ebola scare in the United States, between the nations two most recognizable medical figures. Sanjay Gupta, CNNs household-name medical correspondent, was standing next to Thomas Frieden, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in front of CDC headquarters in Atlanta on October 1. Frieden assures Gupta that if one of them had Ebola, the other would be at no risk of infection: Its not like the flu, not like the common cold. It requires direct physical contact. A CNN anchor interjects: But if he sneezes on you, its a different story.
Gupta laughs nervously and Frieden shrugs. Gupta then asks whether their close proximity would not in itself qualify as a contact under the guidelines the CDC uses to trace the spread of outbreaks.

Thanks, Thud, for the heads up!
FR’s own Ebola experts did the same. They assured us that letting all these infected people in country was perfectly safe.
Wow. Long any good article. It will be back.
It has (allegedly intentionally) been done before with devastating results.
When the administration's focus became one of shushing the messengers rather than safeguarding against the pathogen's entry, that was a definite red flag that many here picked up on.
Indeed it is an excellent and informative article. Thanks for the ping.
You’re Welcome, PA Engineer, although Thud found it and deserves the lion’s share of the credit.
There is a clear generational competency problem. I’m reminded of the great care that was made to ensure that the Apollo 11 astronauts brought back no virulent pathogen from the moon and if they did that they be contained and controlled. Ebola is a well known and highly virulent pathogen and yet it was hardly taken seriously until after it became a problem. Apparently introducing or reintroducing serious illness to this country at the fastest rate possible is also included in the expensive obamacare package we’ve all been paying for.
Excellent article - thank you for posting it. Extremely well- researched and came to an accurate conclusion about the motivation behind actions by CDC and WHO, essentially political ones driven by a fear of “backlash” by all us inbred yahoos in the hinterlands against the noble brown savage. That or the wish for a grand leveling by an apocalyptic disease. Think of how the snail darters would prosper if there were no yucky people left.
Really terrible how they threw healthcare workers under the bus. Criminal, in my mind.
