All money is imaginary. As soon as people lose the faith in the currency it is worthless. Stockpile necessary items for trade or trade your talents (assuming there is enough of a civilized society left) It is a good time to be old. Lead in a deliverable for is the one exception.

No, it isn’t. To all who read this: Never limit yourself by leaving out ways to help you survive.
You need trade goods but you also need money because money has always been the exchange way to get what you need. If power goes out for a few months, the person with change and dollar bills can buy in a store when a person with a credit card can’t. Cash will rule.
When Hurricane Ike came through here, there was no power for five days and NO STORES WERE OPEN, EXCEPT for a SHIPLEY’S DONUT SHOP. They had candles in the store and they cook with gas so they had food for sale. Their parking lot was full of cars and people bought hot dog thingies and pastry goods WITH CASH - ONLY CASH as power was out so no credit card worked.
Never limit yourself - use every means available to you now as you prepare, so you have as many options as possible to live through a tough time.

When WTSHTF big time, ammunition will be the new coin of the realm. I’m investing accordingly.

I am tired of hearing this. Many many people will believe that whatever the crisis, that it is only a temporary thing. They will be happy to take your coins in return for items at inflated prices. The government and what media is operating will be lying through their teeth and saying it is just temporary.
I can't trade you a tractor part that you don't want. But I can sell it, get silver coins, give them to you for food, etc. Then you can give them to some else for fuel, etc. Finding someone to trade, and each having exactly what the other wants will be about impossible.
Human species creates money. Apparently, in prison, they trade cans of mackerel. No body ever eats it, it just has become currency. Some may do life and never eat it, but they need a monetary system. Money goes back to the beginning of mankind's history. Why would it change now? Just might be a different form.

I agree, cash might be worth something for a little while, at least until people
realize there's no nutritional value and begin to wipe their butts with it.
Toilet paper, now there's a commodity during any SHTF scenario.
