New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo introduced a plan to completely overhaul LaGuardia Airport that comes with a $4 billion price tag for the first part. He made the announcement Monday at a luncheon detailing new infrastructure plans for his state. Vice President Joe Biden was at the meeting.
Biden, who last year compared the airport to something found in the "third world," fully supports the plan which will break ground next year. Total construction will take about 18 months, Cuomo said.
"It is actually happening," said Cuomo. "LaGuardia Airport is un-New York."

nicely played!
Well, there are WAY more possibilities of “room” v7sitors these days. Depends stock is looking good....
Perhaps they will be using the funds to install 56 different bathrooms to conform the FB’s new Gender identity list....
Ya...the mob alone will want $4B of the action since the Dem’s expect to get half of that back in campaign donations.
Are SEIU locals going to be involved in this project?
Construction workers and suppliers but I don’t believe the SEIU has many locals in the building trades.
You are far too generous. After 10 years and $45 billion the project will still not be complete and the Democrats in New York will blame a republican somewhere for budget cuts.
Thats one billion for aluminum siding and 3 billion for payoffs.
The FAA gladly hands out this money. Some garnered from the ticket taxes, the rest comes via the highway trust fund from what I gather.
Looking forward to flying in to LGA to see the 3 dudes who are actually working on the project (2700 no show jobs).
You may be the first person to EVER say those words....
“How is it possible to spend $4 billion in such a small area in such a short time?”
I was wondering the same thing.
I don't fly as much as I used to, but I always found LGA to to the most convenient of the three NYC airports. I've never cared about shops (Really! Who pays those prices anyway?) and rarely about restaurants beyond coffee and fast food. (Also overpriced.) I think the only restaurant I have any sort of pleasant memory of was up in Montreal (Dorval). I want a short walk from the curb to the gate, and a quiet place to sit and wait for the plane. That's it. I doubt if I've ever spent more than a total of $5 leaving all the airports I've ever left (excluding currency exchange). I just want to get the hell out. LGA's fine. But flying taxpayers don't count.

You’d need a frickin crane.
Heck, for $4 billion they should through in a free boob job.
I've been flying into Palm Beach International for more than 40 years. It used to be a great airport that had everything I wanted: picked up checked bags from a cart at the curb, and then crossed the street to pick up the rental car. When I returned the drop-off was in the same place. There was a comfortable place a short walk from the check-in which was also close to the curb and the departure gate.
They had a "great" renovation about 25 years ago. Now the rental car places are miles from the curb, so there are those little buses. Check-in isn't too bad but then it's a long walk to the departure gate, to be sure past shops I never go into, but it's a long way compared to 20 (?) years ago. (And forget about the absurd roadways they spent mega-money on to get to the "new" airport.)
