I’d certainly believe he is forcing further division in the electorate with respect to conservatives and establishment Republicans and those disposed to believe the lies of RINOs.

I fail to see exactly how Trump’s one-issue pony wins the race for conservatives across the board especially when he has to face conservatives on a range of additional issues.

To think that Cruz would do anything but accept and tacitly endorse some of the Trumpisms on illegal aliens doesn’t make sense to me. Accept that debate point, don’t dispute and move on to more wheat/chaff in the slate of what conservatism is about, too.

For others on that debate stage? It is a place where Jeb’s surrender of our sovereignty and establishment Republican lying can be showcased. The same with some of the other fence sitters on the slate, too.

I don’t expect Trump to ever win, nor would want him to, but to me he performs a very valuable function right now. Especially if it is something that damages Jeb Bush’s chances.

I agree with almost all of that.....especially the part about the one issue thing. Trump has fooled a lot of folks into thinking he’s ultra conservative because he’s very loud about one of his conservative positions on one issue. (and actually, he’s not very aggressive on deportation...and a lot of his supporters are the most aggressive on that issue).

Over time, there are other issues. Obama Care will again rise to the top at some point, and Trump has less cred on that long term than MITT ROMNEY HAD...ahem.

Just sayin....
