An article about giving government-subsidized tampons to women that was published in The Daily Bruin, the student newspaper at the University of California, Los Angeles, came complete with a clarification that the author did not mean to suggest that menstruation was always a women thing so as not to offend any transgender, non-menstruating women readers.
The disclaimer, a picture of which was posted on Twitchy, states: This blog post refers to individuals who menstruate as women because the author wanted to highlight gender inequality in health care. We acknowledge that not all individuals who menstruate identify as women and that not all individuals who identify as women menstruate, but feel this generalization is appropriate considering the gendered nature of most health care policies.
After all, they wouldnt want anyone thinking they were transphobic. I know that if I personally had read such an article without this kind of clarification, my first thought would definitely have been: How dare they say women instead of cisgender women and male-identified female-bodied persons? Youre so ignorant that youre all dead to me. So, good save!
In all honesty, feeling the need to post a clarification like this for daring to talk about periods as a women thing seems crazy but its not the first time this kind of issue has come up. In fact, theres also an ongoing fight about whether its okay to refer to abortion as a womens issue, for the same reasons.
Good luck out there, everyone.
We cannot coexist with these people.
Split America. Peacefully now or have violence and cattle cars come for us later.
Stop the USA from spinning...I want to get off.
Mommy! Make it stoooooooop!
You beat me to the punch!
sorry, couldn't resist
If this type of stuff signals TEOTWAWKI, at least we’re going down in a stupendous blaze of hilarity.
I get a huge laugh out of liberal extremists almost every day.
It warms my heart :-)

I’ve got a couple of tampons in my car’s first aid kit. Not for my wife (and certainly not for me) but for inserting into gunshot wounds.
I am glad, however, my wife bought them at the store so I didn’t have to!
Agreed. The entire story is one ‘Heavy Flow’ stream of bull squeeze.
No need to rag on it...period.
We deserve to be overrun and taken over. People that have this much time on their hands and have angst over these issues are too idle to exist.
I'm not sure I can cope. The first time some fag comes in with a baritone voice and wearing makeup I think I'll lose it. That scene in "No Country For Old Men" where the guy is talking about some fag in blue hair comes to mind.
If this wasn’t so sickening it would actually be comical. I’ve never seen so much PC BS stacked this high. Transgender is just another word for mentally unbalanced.
I’ve got a number of those heavy duty Kotex in my first aid kit. You know, the ones that are like diapers. I figure those will handle sucking chest wounds no prob, Bob.
OK, so this guy was buying Kotex for his wife in the Dollar Store and he was a young guy, embarrassed (I was not), so he hoped to breeze right through.
But of course there was no price on the package so the checker had to get on the phone and call the back of the (small) store, and there was a long line, and the checker was holding this big box of Kotex up like they were the Stanley Cup, thinking they could be seen, and everyone was watching closely, but pretending to be uninterested ...
Well, she got the hardware dept. by mistake, and the clerk there thought she said, “thumb tacks”.
So he got on the store-wide intercom and said, his voice reverberating through the store:
“The ones you can push in with your thumb or the kind you gotta use a hammer on?”
The ones I got have the straps and like I said they are about as thick as the Indianapolis phone book so you can wrap them around, say an arm or leg and staunch a pretty heavy blood flow.
Well the transgenders can still stick where the sun don’t shine.
“Transphobic” is a shockingly stupid name for an indescribably foolish concept. While I know several sailors who worried that prostitutes in certain islands might turn out not to be female, no one is afraid of transsexuals in normal circumstances. Certainly, describing condoms as a women’s product is not a sign of fear.
Even if you want to pretend that a mutilated man becomes a woman if he takes estrogen, the fact that he’s never going to need a tampon is not what makes him different from real women. Pre-teen girls and very old women (I think) don’t need tampons either, so he can pretend he’s one of them and pretend he’s as much of a woman as if he needed tampons too.
“so as not to offend any transgender, non-menstruating women readers.”
But what about transgender, menstruating men readers?
Bigots!
