I never thought of that Grace but I agree. That goes double for Church. I have seen kids really misbehave there and it shocks me that their parents don’t care.
At our small church on Sunday, the Pastor’s 10 year old boy was asked to do something. He did it but everyone could see the displeasure on his face, the huge pout as he did the task. This is not the first time he has cut up in church. After church, I pulled him aside and explained that making faces like that and pouting, make him look like a baby, embarrassing not just his dad, but himself. He started to pout as I was speaking. He didn’t appreciate when I told him that once again, he looks like a baby. I told his dad afterwards and he was quite pleased that someone else explained the ‘facts’ to the boy.
His six year old sister is prone to crying and tantrums. Seems to me that most of the Africans I’ve met, don’t seem to know how, or care how to discipline their kids. From what the parents have said, they were worried about disciplining their kids for fear of interference from the government before they became citizens.
