I don’t think it was any one thing....but amnesty was part of it.....Bush’ unpopularity and Hume’s mis read on why was part of it...but mostly I think it’s just the toll that’s taken on people (media, congress, staffers, etc) after living in that toxic environment day after day where DC is considered center of the universe, and big government is loved, and conservatives are hated, by 95% of the folks there.

He was very pro-amnesty/comprehensive immigration. Some of us and he has some rounds about it in the live threads for his radio program. Those threads were removed from FR when he became press sec.

They MUST push their boss’s agenda whether they think it stinks or not, AND they must act like they believe it.

Brit Hume is a despicable individual who should never be on any channel in an editorial position. He’s not that bright anyway and has very little insight into the psyche of the American public.
I have loathed him ever since he smeared Newt in 2012 because of some perceived notion that Newt had something to do with his gay son committing suicide.
A press sec does push the boss’s agenda, but they also have to have some level of agreement or they have not sense of morality.
