The best thing that can happen to Democrats is for outspoken, outrageous Donald Trump, the New York billionaire, to dominate the Republican presidential primary season. The Donald is in classic form these days, insulting Mexico and Mexican-Americans while trying to make a case about the criminality of immigrants. He's doing his money-lubricated best to undermine credible candidates like former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush by belittling and baiting them. If a newbie on the political scene were to see Trump in action, it would be easy to conclude he's working for the Democrats.

The Catholic church is moving left very quickly. Between the “Technology is bad” statement from the Vatican, to the softening on divorce and gays, to their stated goal for open immigration into non Catholic countries.
It hurts a lot of Catholic Freepers when I say that, but the majority of Catholics will line up for the Dems.
Because of Trump, we will probably see Texas flip this election cycle.
You'll see Freepers there (correctly IMO) noting that any liberal who wants to pay a $15 minimum in his business is welcome to do so, and to see if he can continue to stay competitive by selling to the like-minded.

If this really is a widely held view, there is nothing stopping GE, or Apple, or Black & Decker from setting up a 100% American factory, paying middle class wages to every one who works there, and pricing to maintain their current net income. It would be great for their PR, no hit to their bottom line, and help them fend off attacks by the Sanderses and the Trumps.
What does the fact that this has not happened tell you??

Palin, a true conservative, was the ONLY reason I voted GOP in 2008.

Okay, what are Trump’s specific steps to bring back American jobs. Other than saying “I want to bring back American jobs” several dozen times a day, that is.

He has mentioned 35% about Mexico a number of times. Doesn’t seem to be talking about China at the moment, but he has in the past.
Trump is the only one in my view, paying any attention to the very critical issue.
Probably, because he’s not for sale. If he were any smaller of a player the globalists would just buy him off, but he’s a real big guy.
He’s pro-Christian. Pro-American, and he’s the only one out there, currently saying a single thing about American jobs.
American jobs, and illegal immigration, have been his two big issues thus-far, and I completely support what he is saying.
Nobody else is standing up on the two issues.

You bring up a good point with the leftward lean. The question begs, will the “faithful” roll their eyes, believe on, and endure this pontiff until he retires or passes and hang on for someone more akin to John Paul to replace him. That IMHO is the Million Dollar question.
If you are faced with a similar dilemma in 2016, consider writing in your choice of a more conservative Republican to show the GOP “leadership” they are losing their base.
Because having our manufacturing back in America-- instead of in a foreign enemy who cheats us all the time-- is not only good for American workers, it's good for our national security. Number one, in that we actually have a manufacturing base again with which to use when the going gets tough. Secondly, we are no longer funding a Communist regime that has as its goal the death of the Western world.

I like them both for the fact that they bring inportant issues to the forefront and force the Establishment to confront (if not the issues, at least them).
But no way that ticket; 1 - happens, 2 - succeeds.
Both are great at generating emotion and motion. Neither has the skill set to be president.

I am afraid the days of Nixon's Southern strategy are long past. Even at the risk of echoing the execrable Karl Rove, I must say that the election will be won or lost as it has been won or lost for the last several cycles, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Iowa, New Mexico, Arizona, Missouri and a few other states. The problem for us with a Southern strategy is that we cannot rely on the South because the South is not solid. North Carolina and Virginia have demonstrated beyond doubt that the South is no longer solid.The election can be lost in the southern states as it was with Obama but it cannot be won.
My God, Mosby's Confederacy (Loudoun County Virginia and the immediate surrounding area) voted for Obama twice! This is Hunt Country Virginia for heaven sakes and we lost it. Never mind the counties like Fairfax next to Washington DC with the influx of Asians, we lost hunt country. If we cannot hold wealthy suburban counties in a Southern state, we are lost.
Hopefull, those deficiencies can be remedied with a strong conservative candidate with a clear conservative message. He must also have attributes of character which the Republican middle class will accept and I do not believe The Donald has those attributes. Remember, it is suburban women who will swing that geographical area of the vote, they read women's magazines, they watch Oprah, they get their information from sources you and I cannot believe or even find and as a result they tend to vote Democrat if they are single.What appeal does The Loudmouth Donald have for fans of Oprah?
I believe this is the last national election in which conservatism has a chance to prevail unless the tsunami of illegal immigration is halted and even reversed and unless the illegal voting generated by the Democrats with these illegal immigrants is halted. I see no real chance of that occurring unless there is a staunch conservative in the White House beginning in January 2017. It is clear beyond doubt that no Bush will ever act to stop illegal voting. If legal immigration, not just illegal immigration, is not halted we will not have another conservative president in our lifetimes. We are already at a point in which babies of color are being born at a rate exceeding Caucasian babies. So long as the Democrats succeed in making race the primary issue in America (more important to blacks than jobs, immigration more important to Hispanics than jobs) the game for us is over.
Those who count themselves conservatives but who oppose article 5 ought to reflect on these realities before it is too late.
