"Sky Captain" was truly a game changer in movie production. I enjoyed it although I am a sucker for the retro-sci genre. Sort of funny Hollywood continues to blow nine figure budgets on the Wachowski's siblings yet these guys were never given another chance.

It was a rip-off of a popular videogame I used to play.

Refused to see it since it featured Little Gwynnie Paltrow - one of the world’s worst and most boring actresses.

I am still trying to think of a movie that was as bad as that...
Maybe ‘Dune’ or ‘Starship Troopers’
Hideously stupid and badly made.

One of my favorites. Best of the bunch when it comes to the retro serial style.
I’ll have to dust off that DVD and pop it in.

The Conrans being such self-depreciating guys makes that love all the more real.

i've still never seen it, but the hyperbole of that article was a bit much.
If films like the Star Wars prequels had previously built sets in a computer, no one had built entire movies in a digital environment. It basically birthed the idea of a digital backlot that could blend actors within a computer generated environment."
ummm... no. am i the only one who saw the original Tron from 1982?

I really liked the movie (could've been a little better -- particularly the actors). It was nicely done. I wish it had performed better (I'll blame the actors because it wasn't the effects).
The novelization fills in quite a few details and describes stuff you might've missed onscreen.

The problem with Sky Captain is that it wasn’t a good movie. It was a cool concept, with interesting visuals. But it was bad. Uninvolving. Poorly acted.
