The first is Robin Trower who first came to fame with the rock group Procol Harem and later made quite an impression with his own brand of power and introspective poetry. I had the pleasure of seeing him perform Daydream (also known as spellbound) at the Oakland Coliseum where he literally mesmerized 50,000 people into flowing back and forth like grass on the plains being tossed about by a gentle wind. We were definitely spellbound. Of course this is a more recent version

Another very special gang of memories (for me) come from David Gilmour of Pink Floyd fame who returned to the music mainstream at the turn of the century bringing with him the style and many of the tunes that brought him anonymous fame with that group in the 70s. Probably the most memorable of his concerts was the marathon he performed before well over 100,000 people in the shipyards at Gdanst, Poland commemorating the revolution of 1980.

His "Bridge of Sighs" album was outstanding. Saw him and Jethro Tull decades ago at either Shea Stadium or Madison Square Garden. Can't recall which (for 'good' reasons!)

Not that he can’t rock with the best of them, but IMHO Jeff Beck is the best all around living guitar player.

The late great Frank Zappa needs to be mentioned as well.

Also, a legendary studio guitar player Tim Pierce. You may not know his name, but if you listen to music you’re heard him on hit songs for decades. Check out his you tube instructional videos for some amazing playing.
