HarperCollins REFUTES NY Times claim that Ted Cruz tried to cheat his way onto bestseller list
Jul 10, 2015 at 2:20 PM in By The Right Scoop
The New York Times came out this morning saying that they kept Ted Cruz off their bestseller list because he tried to cheat his way onto the list using strategic bulk purchases to do it. But HarperCollins, the publisher of Cruzs book, A Time For Truth, absolutely refutes the claim, saying they can find no proof of this:
BUZZFEED In a statement provided to BuzzFeed News, HarperCollins publicity director Tina Andreadis said the company looked into the matter and found no evidence of bulk orders or sales through any retailer or organization.
It is common practice for politicians to try to game the Times prestigious bestseller list by having their campaigns or political action committees buy up thousands of copies of their books. When Cruzs book was left off the list this week despite outselling many of the entries that did make it, the papers spokesperson justified the omission by telling Politico they found an overwhelming preponderance of evidence that the sales numbers were being padded by bulk purchases.
By publicly refuting the Times claim , HarperCollins is taking on one of the most influential forces in the publishing industry an exceedingly rare move for any large publisher.
If anyone is going to know about Cruzs book purchases, it is going to be the book publisher. And now theyve basically called out the The New York Times for lying in order to keep Ted Cruz off their list.
Heres the full statement from Harper Collins below:
HarperCollins Publishers has investigated the sales pattern for Ted Cruzs book A TIME FOR TRUTH and has found no evidence of bulk orders or sales through any retailer or organization.
When questioned about the omission of A TIME FOR TRUTH from its bestseller list, the New York Times told Politico, In the case of this book, the overwhelming preponderance of evidence was that sales were limited to strategic bulk purchases.
A TIME FOR TRUTH ranked high on other publishing industry bestseller lists including Nielsen Bookscan (#4), a subscription service that tracks the vast majority of book sales in America, The Wall Street Journal (#4) and Barnes and Noble (#7). All these outlets omit bulk orders books from their rankings

How do you “cheat” your way onto the best seller list.
The publisher would have to report falsely and cook their books.
Are you kidding me?
Easy, that is how the publishes of obama’s books keep the royalty checks rolling
Probably buy thousands of those books in the name of schools an d libraries and then dump them or warehouse them
I note the Times has yet to provide proof
The publisher should sue them for economic damage because listing as a NYT top seller had economic value to sales, which is being denied to Cruz
In America, truth is not required to make a point. Truth gets in the way of what the American people like.
I hope they do.
I’m sure there are FR lawyers that would love to sue the NYT.
Time to get proactive. There is no way we cut the left down a peg sitting on our asses.
Oh, then I guess Cruz must have “cheated” his way to #1 on the Amazon political science list too. Those dummies at Amazon don’t know what they’re doing.

That’s where I got my copy. Between Cruz and Trump the libs are going to spontaneously combust by the time the election is here. Nothing left but a stinky pile of ashes.
For example if the RNC bought a few thousand cases to show their support... sorry, that's just too silly to continue.
This is not the first time that an author has been charged with cheating. I remember that the great tome “Reflections of a Public Man” was once believed to have been bought in bulk by Teamsters’ goons and stacked in warehouses. I remember that I was incredulous at the time!
Consider the source. Trash is trash no matter how one packages it.
It’s possible that booksellers bought hundreds of copies at a time, but OTOH, Cruz made a number of personal appearances at book stores (and Costco, etc.) to do book signings. And HUNDREDS of people showed up to many of those signings. So I guess the NY Slimes could point to those buys as “bulk buys” but the books were sold to actual individual people who stood in line to meet Cruz.
My wife and I stood in one of those endless lines for Senator Cruz to sign our books. We were limited to only one copy each because the crowd was so large. No matter what the liberals say or do, the support for Cruz is real and growing.
