If you are looking for natural sources that are high in salicylic acid (to act as a blood thinner) are fruits and veggies such as raspberries, granny smith apples, cucumbers, cantaloupe, strawberries, tomatoes, and red grapes. blackberries, blueberries, dates, kiwi fruits, guavas, apricots, green pepper, olives, tomatoes, radish and chicory.

The bark of the willow tree is a great one. You could chew on some of that like people used to do before modern medicine.

Herbal sources.

So listen to what the bible says: A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it. NIV Proverbs 22:3

I have to think those who can't see danger NOW are so deep in denial that they won't see it until it is upon them. At that point it will be way too late.

Just a few thoughts as we hunkered down in the basement waiting for the tornado sirens to stop. I have 7 kids, one newborn in diapers. I made the kids throw on shoes before they went downstairs in case we had storm damage and had to crawl out. I wish I had some diapers and snacks in the basement. Of course the storm hit at dinner time. I had a turkey in the oven when we headed downstairs and the smell made all of our stomachs growl. LOL! Good thing it didn’t burn!

We were following the storm on the weather radio and knew we were not likely to get a tornado so I let the kids put a DVD on for entertainment instead of hiding under tables/beds. The satellite TV/Internet always fails during storms so my screen addicted kids get bored quickly. Having some cards and games downstairs would be good, too.

I had lights available for power outage but have decided we need a portable toilet down there for emergencies. With the wind howling like it was, there was no way I was letting the kids go upstairs! Kids were wearing glowstick bracelets. This was definitely a hit and would have helped me locate all of them in the dark if needed.

I did grab my purse and had my keys in my pocket in case we needed to and were able to get to the van. We have a BOB in my husband’s truck but don’t have anything in my van. I’m thinking at lease a change of clothes and some water/snacks/First Aide kit would be a huge help.

I forgot to grab the ICE binder with all of our valuable information. Kind of defeats the purpose! I’m thankful for this practice because all kinds of thoughts and ideas run through my head when I’m scared! I can see our weaknesses so vividly in these moments. I’m going to pour over some of the resources at the link above to help me fill in the gaps. I’ll be really glad when my husband gets home! Lots of flash flooding around town on the roads.

Better print it out because after an EMP, your computer won’t be worth much...or so ‘they’ say.

Saiman, we prayed for you and your little family last night, for your safety and for your comfort. Now you have a story to tell for years and your kids will grow from the experience because they have a mom who prepares for emergencies and is smart enough to access the situation to better it for next time.

You gave us such a detailed account, I felt for you and delighted in you, your the abandoned turkey dinner, the portable potty, the glow sticks, all the while, nature furious and damaging around you, you with your brave heart keeping your brood secure in your basement, planning for the next day to stash snacks and games where they would be needed and paperwork to grab and supplies to store in the family van.

God Bless you, Samian and may the Holy Spirit guide you as you raise your full and bursting family ( so lovely) through times calamitous and peaceful.
