More than two dozen churches around the world have installed a facial-recognition system that monitors which members of the flock have actually shown up for the Sunday sermon. The system is called Churchix and was developed by Israeli software company, Face-six. It continually scans the religious center's CCTV feed and matches congregation members to a pre-existing database of their faces -- reportedly with 99 percent accuracy.

"Church events are the church way to interact with its members, and naturally the attendance to those events is very important," Face-Six CEO Moshe Greenshpan told Churchmag. "Event attendance stats help the church to measure the success of each event, see what event types are more popular than others and also track the attendance of specific members." That way, church officials can monitor everything from the gender ratios of attendees at specific events to ensure that elderly or infirmed church-members haven't suddenly stopped coming around.
However, not everybody is praising the Churchix. As Emma Carr, director of Big Brother Watch, told the Mirror UK, "This is a clear example of completely over-the-top use of technology. Churches have managed to note who is in their congregation for hundreds of years without resorting to highly intrusive means."

This is way over the top. I’d change church, maybe even religion, should my church think this is right or necessary.

I’ve never been to a church big enough that the preacher didn’t know who was there, and who wasn’t.

1. We see you haven’t had your abortion this year. You’re not having a baby, are you?
2. We see you only voted in three polling places today. Please vote democrat at least two more times today.
3. We see you’ve only destroyed four police vehicles in this week’s riot. Please pick up your pace.
4. We saw you pumping gas twice this week. Isn’t it time you bought an electric vehicle?
5. We noticed you were a man last week and are identifying as a woman this week...have you considered identifying as a wolverine?
No, it’s for lack of entries of non-corporeal beings - ones that are repulsed by the teachings of Christianity.
On #5, he wouldn’t be man enough to identifying as a wolverine.
I say we use it at all polling places on election day to see who’s voting more than once.

Big Church, big bucks, big business, high overhead, and most of all...GREED.
The churches mentioned using facial recognition proves the point that money is far more important that the lessons taught. To illustrate that point, they need to let the religious “lemmings” know that not only is “Big Brother” watching you but “Big Holy Roller” is too...and he needs your money too.
Nothing better than to let the “Sunday Christians” know who’s there and who’s not. Makes them feel more superior don’t you know.
Intimidation and shame is a proven method to drive those paying customers to the big church on Sunday.
He knows where we are on Sunday morning... and that's all that matters.
