You make a good point. I was thinking along those lines today, without the historic underpinning: the left has been vilifying the United States for so viciously and for so long they are not far from wanting the US flag to go as well.
Before he was killed in the final five months of the war General Patrick Cleburne predicted how the South would be portrayed...
