I prefer cats because:

1. I don’t want an animal jumping all over the place and scratching up my wood floor. I do not want to have to walk a dog daily, I’m busy.

2. I don’t need an animal to give me purpose. I already have that from other things.

3. I never want an animal to give me any inkling of a disease. I will see a doctor for that, early or not.

4. I’ve had both cats and dogs. I think cats are smarter but it takes a wiser animal owner to recognize that.

5. I have a much stronger bond with my cats than I had with our dogs. Our dogs, though very intelligent, did not have the same sort of human like thinking on more delicate matters.

My dogs have been more destructive tearing curtains, jackets, comforters, shirts. Rescue dogs often were never trained to behave so you often get bad behavior from them. But I once had 2 kittens and a $3,000 leather corner group. When the kittens were around the year, they would chase each other around the cat like a heat seeking missile on the tail of a fighter jet hard at evasive maneuvers. I thought it was quite funny until I found all the deep pinholes and surface scratches on the white leather of the sofa and love seat. Then again, they never took a dump on my master bed like the dog did. Both can be destructive.

Other than that, neither cats nor dogs are capable of human-like thinking. Humans just have a terrible tendency to anthropomorph their pets. What you believe with a cat sort of having human-like thinking in delicate matters, isn’t true. Not even close.
