I'd be more concerned about Trump if he steps outside the two party political circle, and so far there's no indication that's where he's going.
Besides that, Obama seems to be getting his way despite a lack of "complicit players".
People were really upset at NAFTA back then. Us "little folk" were right, and what is DC doing? Manipulating ways to vote for more anti-US worker trade deals while still getting re-elected.
“Good hair, bad hair, dead-cat hair, or no hair, we dont need a stinkin pandering protectionist for a president.”
Actually we do. And I would go further to say that it’s in our Constitution and the oaths of office that politicians take. Specifically the President.
What do you thing the word “defend” means if not protect? That’s exactly what our taxes are suppose to go for...
“I’m sure, a ton of skeletons in his closet.”
I’ve noticed in my so far short (almost seven decade) life is that one person’s indiscretions are pretty much the same as another’s...
Bit of a difference...Some people didn't believe Ross Perot...Many others were afraid to vote for him because 'he couldn't win'...People like to vote for winners...
But now we can see that what Perot predicted came true...And we have a guy pointing to those things and pointing at the people who called Perot a liar and who continue to destroy our Country...
Even if true, I don't think Americans care...We're beyond that...We want our Country back...
Well Trump talks about the tariffs for effect like with Ford but what he really wants to do is renegotiate all of our trade agreements such as NAFTA, CAFTA etc. And that sorely needs to be done to decrease our trade deficit. He also wants to lower the corporate tax rate which will bring business back to the US.
This guy is no dummy. Dummies don’t get to be billionaires.
2. Obama has plenty of complicit players in Congress from both parties. That's why they've let him get away with everything he's done. Remember -- when Ted Cruz tried to filibuster the ObamaCare appropriations bill back in 2013, it was REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS who were his loudest critics.
From a purely political standpoint, Trump's biggest problem is that he's tailored his campaign to appeal to a shrinking base of Americans who actually aspire to work in factories. I know a few people whose parents worked in factories. They are all immigrants, and none of them will be voting for Donald Trump.
The car factories in Alabama and other places in the South are non union and people have good jobs. When you get the unions out of the car business its profitable here.
I think Trump knows all this. He says a lot of stuff for effect. He wants to renegotiate every trade agreement and also lower the corporate tax rate to get business back in the states. So do I. I’m sure Trump knows that Mexico rips us off because NAFTA allows it to.
He needs to refine his message.
How can Trump have any credibility if he campaigns against NAFTA, then tries to emphasize his opposition by citing an industry that has seen tremendous growth in the U.S. since NAFTA was signed?
Well we have more than one problem. Its a combination of things that have devastated our business’s. No one thing is the whole problem. Unions, Regulations, highest corporate tax in the world. Trade agreements that benefit the weakest link to the detriment of the strongest link. We have a lot of problems.
By the way the Alabama auto plants are mostly foreign such as Kia and Hyandai. When you ride down the interstate you see them off in the distance. I think Alabama gives them a free tax ride for about 5 years as an incentive.
Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, New Jersey laid off more than 1,100 workers last year. Before Donald Trump tells Ford Motor Company or anyone else that they need to “bring jobs back to the U.S.” he should explain to American voters what has happened to all the people HE once employed.
