ASBURY PARK Fueled by a child custody dispute, a recently divorced Neptune Township police officer shot and killed his former wife in broad daylight on Tuesday in front of their daughter on an Asbury Park street, authorities said.
***
While taking him into custody, some of the officers hugged him and patted him comfortingly on the back, the witness said.

You know, I'm sure the reaction of nearly any coworker would be to *hug* a coworker whom you just witnessed killing his wife.
After all, we have to keep our priorities straight.

I haven’t spoken to my wife in over three months. We’re not fighting, I just don’t like to interrupt.

If I’d shot mine when I first wanted to, I’d have been out by now.

Well, imagine you had a close friend who committed a terrible crime.

If your response to a close friend who commits a murder in front of you is “he/she needs a hug”, you’re giving your friend the wrong response.
Murder isn’t a “boo boo” that a hug will make all better.

I’m told that I am a heartless and cold sob.
If a friend of mine did that, he could expect that I would pound the ever loving daylights out of him up to and until I was dragged kicking off his brutalised and pitiable remains.

I’m half serious when I say that those hugs are body language for “Better you than me, brother... better you than me.”

“Cold and heartless SOBs” are typically sociopathic, psychotic, and/or narcissistic. Your reaction would completely fall in line with your promised action. What’s the “irony”?

Lol! Nice! After I posted, I realized that I completely misinterpreted your post. There was no “irony”. Thanks for your service, too. There’s not a chance in hell that I would have survived it.

LeMieux said Phillip Seidle was known to the officers on scene. When asked why officers didn't use force against Seidle while he fired off a second round of shots in police presence, LeMiuex said that's "under investigation at this point in time." Seems the stubborn Tamara Seidle refused to bleed out, so Neptune's finest allowed Seidle to pump a few more into her, ...after all, she made little Phil cry.

I wish I could find the post, but earlier today, a Freeper commented that cops defend each other UNLESS they know that another cop is guilty. Then they treat them more harshly than they would a "common" criminal.
Well then....

Sad to know Neptune & Asbury Park are still a mess despite all the gentrification. And, yes, the hugs were totally weird.

I was, when I was there, the third shortest man in all of artillery.
