A candy product dubbed Liquid Weed has drawn the ire of at least one California mother after her son purchased the sugary treat from a Sacramento-area candy store.
Naomi Lopez, of Manteca, California, said her son bought the sour apple ooze candy a few weeks ago from Candy Heaven in Old Sacramento.
... Lopez said her main concern was the labeling. She said the candy is sending the wrong message.
Its targeting children, thats how I see it. Its in reach of children, Lopez said.

Weed and queers are okay, nothing to see, move on...
I bet she had candy cigarettes at some point in her childhood. And she probably doesn’t smoke. Now she just needs to add 2 and 2.
Of course she’s right.
I had candy cigarettes as a child and I didn’t go on to smoke.
Oh wait...I did.
Almost everybody had the candy. But most didn’t go on to smoke (because don’t smoke anymore).
Lock them up for life
“Oh wait...I did.”
Same here. On the other hand, I also used to buy the bubble gum cigars, but I never met Monica Lewinsky....
Cut their heads off by the seashore!
I had candy cigarettes and never smoked. Winter was the best time to eat them because then your frozen breath looked like smoke :).
While I’m a staunch supporter of MJ legalization and leaving the choice to partake to the individuals doing it, I don’t care for this at all. Weed is not something that should be done by kids - if they grow up and decide to do it, whatever, but as kids, this is just bad form. There is no need to market this candy to kids.
Just because it’s candy doesn’t mean that by definition it’s marketed towards children. While it’s arguably in poor taste, I can’t see how it should be illegal.
Cannabis Salve . . ?
Your argument defending something intended to push drugs to children is pretty sorry, but during the years of candy cigarettes being sold, the percentage of smokers was extremely high.
Welcome to what might be your first week at FR.
It’s not pushing drugs to children. It’s a stupid candy, doesn’t look like pot, doesn’t taste like pot, isn’t pot, doesn’t really have anything to do with pot, except a stupid name. Which was probably chosen knowing it would irritate whiny people, thus generating news stories, thus free publicity.
Percentage of smokers was very high for decades before anybody invented candy cigarettes. And it was a generation that grew up on candy cigarettes that started us down the path of not smoking. Smoking led to the candy, not the other way around.
Keep voting for your sacred DemoRats to keep the weed candy flowing. Don’t complain when Jr.gets corrupted by their ideology.
You voted for it.
Ya know Ms. Lopez that mariJuana has a certain espanol ring to it.
This is not ok. It looks like it could be a marijuana candy with real thc in it! If your child were consuming it, and you didn’t know where he got it, you might rush him to the ER or be very concerned. Since there is real weed candy, this is a dumb idea.
