Read my post again. Where did you see the words “open the border” or “amnesty” or any such thing? Show me one major candidate who has said “as soon as I’m president, we’re gonna put them beaner wetbacks in cattle cars and ship their butts back to Mexico, toot suite!” or give up all this “this here is amnesty” nonsense.

Either I didn’t make my point very well.....

....or you chose to ignore it.

My point was.....and is.....TRUST

Whatever the issue......illegals.....trade.....secrecy....sovereign nation.....

TRUST is first, last and always.

You, and another dozen or so FReepers should be committed to a mental institution, because you can no longer think in a rational fashion about TPA, TAA and TPP and the difference between them.

So, you're all for a secret deal that Obama himself is demanding, that would greatly expand his power, while diminishing the Senate's constitutional treaty ratification power?

Gotcha.

I trust two politicians today, Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin. I worked for President Reagan, so I think I know what the “real thing” looks like. You may see something I don't or visa versa. I can't tell you who to trust, that's a deeply personal thing, I'm just telling you who I trust, as of right now. Ted Cruz is not out to “give away” our sovereignty, but if you think he is, I can see why you wouldn't trust him.

Trey Gowdy is not “bought off.” He has bought in to the total power to the president thing. It makes life so much easier for Senators.

Gowdy is a member of the U.S.House.

We are getting Amnesty and a quick road to Citizenship and voting rights no matter who is elected. I suspect it will be done by fiat before the election and the election will be “decided” by 10-20 million new Citizen voters. Even if that gets short circuited, the next president, whoever it is, will force through Amnesty with a mostly willing Congress in the interest of “getting it behind us” and getting the Republic behind us at the same time.

That is the rational approach for those who strive for a permanent Democrat/Communist majority, or perhaps a Moslem tyranny.

Ted Cruz voted to give Hussein authority to negotiate any trade deal he wants and to get it passed by Congress. Ted Cruz, if one believes him to be a sincere Conservative, trusts Hussein to make a good trade deal beneficial to the American economy and to not make it a big money pot for selected backers and a "legal" conduit for some form of mass immigration. That is some fatuous "trust" and raises a serious question about whether he has the judgment to be President.

In my view he is either a Republican statist or he is a trusting fool.

“Is anyone offering a better candidate or just stating that Senator Cruz is not perfect or good enough?” -———

That’s just it. This is why I believe it won’t be like last time with Mitt Romney. For all the things Romney wasn’t, these candidates down to the last one are all proLife and pro-religious liberty. LIFE issues trump everything else.

Conscience objections will look a little silly this time around, imho, when we have candidates who OWN the Life and Religious Liberty positions, up against strictly political positions we don’t like.

(The religious liberty position takes care of a lot of other suppression and the trampling of other liberties that is going on under Obama and Hillary.)

So, while the numbers will be legion who bluster and threaten to stay home, they will really be at the polls on time.

It comes down to who is the closest to being infallible. Cruz certainly has a shot in that category, don’t you think?
But, even if he didn’t, we will all be able to vote this time.

Some of us are just a little stunned that he missed his at- bat on this fangled agreement business.

You left out the possibility that he is a financial opportunist. While I have no direct evidence, I see it as a possibility.

But did he? Look. I could join MENSA tomorrow and probably would if it weren't such a nerd prom. But I think Ted Cruz is a LOT smarter than I am, especially when it comes to the Constitution. He was the most brilliant student that Alan Dershowitz and some other professors at Harvard Law School (arguably the best law school on Earth) had ever seen! And that was when he was 20-something. He's had another 25 years of learning and experience since then! He clerked for a US Appellate Judge AND the Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court! He's won DOZENS of cases at the Supreme Court, many of them major ones that you've heard of. He's the reason Al Gore is a has-been blowhard and not a former president. And on and on.

I know all that, of Ted’s credentials. He is special. He will make the cut is my bet also. But, his argument *for* this authority and the subsequent agreement that will come from it is simply untimely, imho, while we are still under this particular and foreign president.

Why does this trade fangle have to occur a year and a half early? It is too much for my faint heart. Obama is as trust worthy as Putin. (I take that back. As an insult to Putin.)

Fear causes a candidate a multitude of problems.

Also, if Obama and Congress can sit by and see a quarter of a million Christians and others beheaded, reportedly children crucified, and banished entirely from Iraq, what is the almighty rush for this trade thingy when Obama is on the ropes, but desperate to obtain?

I think we are trying to work through this, but Cruz has some work to do mending minds on the point of the strange TIMING of this thing, coming while Obama is still in office, or else he may need to represent his supporters and try to back away somehow. My 2 cents. .)

If it isn’t passed now, the Democrats would NEVER give it to a president Cruz, Walker or even Bush. That’s part of it. Remember, this guy only has 15 months left.

So even if we have majorities in the House and Senate and a Republican president, it won’t pass in 2016?? Why is that? How many votes, is it 218 in the House that will be required?

The Republicans will probably lose the majority in the senate nest year, by most accounts.
