Red Skelton's video of Flag Day Pledge of Allegiance - Old school greatness!
My dad used to roar with laughter during his show.
Here’s another good one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbbGi3mTjCo
TIF, thank you for posting this. I remember hearing this live in 1969 at the height of the Vietnam war. It was at the end of his show, and around Flag Day. There just aren’t patriotic comedians like Mr. Skelton today. Charlie Daniels did a tribute on it several years ago. Skelton was a remarkable man; he made a great impact being fatherless at age 7. I really liked that he finished every TV show by saying, “Good night, and God bless.” He suffered a nervous collapse while in the Army and developed stuttering. His characters of Clem Kadiddlehopper and Freddie the Freeloader were genius.
I wish there were comics today that reflected his morality.

I enjoyed Red Skelton too. Jonathan Winters was another favorite.
Yes, JW was another of the “crew” that got their start in vaudeville. Jack Benny, Bob Hope, Tim Conway, Lucille Ball, Milton Berle, Don Rickles, and many more. None of them used profanity to make their jokes. It was a different generation.

What a great entertainer and true patriot. I miss seeing men like him on the airwaves
Bookmarked to share with the grandkids.
Bump to the top. In this day and age of PANdemIC and everything seemingly anti-American, we need a good dose of this video to keep us grounded!
Thanks for sharing this! Those.. were the days...! When Hollywood loved America!!
