Carolina Herrera Is Baffled by the "Almost Naked" Dresses Worn by Kardashian, Beyonce,

She finds the nearly nude sort-of rude! Designer Carolina Herrera, best known for her beautiful silhouettes and classic white shirts, ripped the "almost naked" look worn by so many celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, and Jennifer Lopez, recently at red carpet events.
Herrera, 76, spoke to the Washington Post about how some of her fellow designers believe "it's so modern to be naked or almost naked" when, in fact, it's counterproductive.
"They think it's going to attract younger people if they do those dresses," she reasoned. "No! The almost naked! Oh God!"
According to Herrera, stars are doing it for publicity. "Theyre trying to get people to pay attention to them," she reasoned. "In life, there should be a little mystery."
Herrera said these stars were not setting an example. "Theyre supposed to be fashion icons and theyre not wearing anything," she told the paper with an "exasperated and dismayed" tone. "Its an obsession now."
The designer noted that she's an advocate of strategically showing skin including a plunging neckline that's precisely structured. "If its open so much, they look like fried eggs," she noted. "Fashion is about proportion... For me, fashion is about originality, sophistication and beauty. Im not in the fashion business; Im in the beauty business."

In my distant youth, I wondered why there were no ‘wardrobe malfunctions’ in these live events (a time years before that Super Bowl 1/2 time event.) Then I learned about that fashion essential (in this case) called double-sided adhesive tape that minimized this potential.
Adulthood and experience in this case is such a downer!

Yes. I also think that some of what we see in the others mentioned in this article is a reflection of their acknowledgement that they have little but exposure to attract attention, since talent isn’t an issue.

What a difference! There still is some elegance out there.
I wonder what these women, Beyonce, J-Lo, etc., will think when they’re older. “Did I do THAT?”

It’s clear that they are willing to sacrifice dignity for financial gain. That’s sad, not only for them, but for their families and those who look up to them as role models.

I love the fabrics. I’m not so fond of #3, but the others are stunning.

Patricia's dress kinda reminds me of Herrera's wedding
dress for Caroline Kennedy---embroidered w/ shamrocks.

As I’ve often said to my husband regarding bridal gowns: “A bride shouldn’t dress as if she’s still desperate to find a man”.

That’s Beyonce.
Like Whitney Houston and Dionne Warwick before her, a beautiful and talented church girl gone over to the dark side.
