The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line
A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.
San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.
Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.
Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.
Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.
"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.
There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.
This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.
They’ve specially adapted to the conditions of Redneck Country.
I hear that, too. There's one right out of the Subway entrance when I get home (MTA, not food Subway) but I've never been willing to wait in the long lines to see if I agree.
Obviously a lot of people agree. Nobody goes there any more because it's too crowded.
Ahhh....so the nine band means the armor is rated up to 9mm munitions?
Yes, I did know that nine-banded armadillo babies are born as identical quadruplets.
I watch a lot of nature shows. *sigh*
It didn’t mention that in the Easy Reader edition of “Wonderful Armadillos.”
We’ll probably be going to the library this afternoon for more animal books.
My godson got into platypuses because of Perrry the platypus.
I did not know that about armadillos. My animal show watching are about puppies and kittens. Have you ever seen Too Cute on the Animal Planet channel?
It has a squee factor of infinity
I seriously thinking of spending two nights and two days in the city for my birthday. It’s been almost ten years since I’ve been to the Met and I just want to see the Van Goghs and a few other things.
I usually book a room somewhere so it’s a mini holiday, but since I haven’t had a vacation in close to ten years, it would be a vacation. I’m thinking of next month, so it would be for my birthday.
I don’t get Animal Planet. I can’t afford all the channels I want to watch, so I am stuck with seven. I don’t even have Netflix any more.
Your birthday plans sound really fun! Keep us posted, OK?
I was just looking at NYC hotels. They’ve gone up in price, so why am I so surprised. 225 a night? I use to pay under 100 for the same hotels.
I think I’m just going to grab the bus if I go. Even driving to AC will end up costing me a couple hundred.
Maybe I’ll just go to Redbox and order Chinese. There you go. Birthday for under 25.
I don’t know how to use Redbox, but it’s just as well, because I never carry cash.
I’d like to go to the Rose Garden down the hill and have a Chinese lunch today, but it will have to wait for my wallet to be fatter.
*sheesh* All I do is cry and moan. I’m sorry....what a pitiful person I am. :o|
And I just spilled coffee on the keyboard, but used the canned air to blow it off.
I’ve been crying a lot too since Saturday, I had a huge misunderstanding. With my sister that escalated and of course the parents got involved and now no one is talking to me. Well, mom is but it’s so civil and cold as ice I can’t stand it.
My sister and I never really got along since adolescence. We had been trying, really trying this past year for the sake of mom and dad. The simple fact is we are family so we love each other but we don’t like each other. The only thing we have in common is we love our parents.
I see the books were delivered...I’m waiting to hear the reaction... :o])
That would make me cry, too, Gefn. I’m so sorry to hear that.
I miss my sisters, but neither of them want to talk to me, so it’s on them. My brothers (two) are better, but one is getting pretty feeble and the other is busy helping to care for his oldest son, who recently had a stroke.
Since the two eldest sibs have now departed this life, I feel it is very selfish of the remaining ones to refuse to have ny contact with the others of us. But that’s just my opinion. For what it’s worth.
He’s opening it right now. It was on the doorstep when we got home from the pool.
He got a pleased and alert expression on his face, but his main focus was lunch ;-). We can start reading later.
Yep...the tracking debise said it was on the “front porch/doorstep.” The box is the one my brother sent the Nook in.
I wish I didn’t have an appointment this morning. I really want to lie down. I just put clean sheets on the bed and that gave me a bad case of “break-through” pain. I need to find the phone number for the pain clinic so I know if my prescription is ready. I really need to get it.
I want bed!
Next week, I will begin to sort the papers and try to get most of them filed, now that the drawers are ready. Everything is in my “gramma chair” (wooden rocker) and some days, I just want to sit there for the support it gives my back.
Wow. I don’t know what’s going on with my head this morning but it’s a good thing I preview my posts... Some words just absolutely defy my ability to make a common sense statement.
Well, I’m glad the signs are good for the books! I thought they were very nice. I love cloth-bound books. They smell so....bookish! And smart! <3
